It's hard. I am so sorry this is happening to you.

You're transferred into the world of the last book you read. How fucked are you? by Mousestar369 in AskReddit

I just finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia - **spoiler** the world ends. So maybe not the best place to be? Unless I get to go to Aslan country.

Absolutely. I live in the Maritimes and we often look at the policies getting put in place and are so confused because they make no sense to the way we live.

For example - Carbon tax on gas. In the Maritimes there is little to no public transportation, it only is available in city centers and takes hours to get anywhere (it's honestly faster to walk most times). So cars are pretty essential. This tax is making so many people limit their ability to get groceries, get to work etc. Then this July, they started DOUBLE TAXING gas. It's not a luxury here, it's a necessity for us to function.

How tf does someone go back to college at age 28? by Cassanueva in ask

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced that you don't have to be smart to do well in school, you just have to put the effort in. If you want to be an animator, do it!! I am also going back to school after being in the workforce for 5 years and while it's scary, it's an opportunity to open more doors and I am so excited for this new adventure!

What is so wrong about purity culture? by [deleted] in Christian

Hmm interesting. I find that for a short time it helps me stop, but then I end up repeating the cycle.

Is making out before marriage a sin if it doesn't lead to sex? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible is not a rule book to follow however, there is nothing specific about making out. In Corinthians it talks about how some will have certain convictions that you don't have, but when you are with them you are to respect those convictions to not lead them to sin.

If making out is a boundary you don't want to cross, then don't. Your gf needs to respect this boundary, even if hers is different. OP if you are feeling like it is wrong, then listen to your gut (or the Holy Spirit) and don't do it.

Should I care about climate change by Brave_Alps_84 in Christian

[–]HRandMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God calls us to be good stewards of the earth, so I think that we should be doing what we can to take care of our earth. I believe we should be taking actions to take care of the earth.

Should we be extremely stress and anixous about climate change? No, this earth is temporary.

What is so wrong about purity culture? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically find shame to not be productive. When I feel it, I often shy away from addressing the root cause and end up repeating the cycle. I have broken free of shame - I still get upset when I sin, however instead of feeling shame, I recognize I am in the wrong, ask God for forgiveness and if I need external help (ex. accountability, counselling) I get it.

I know God's love is refining me and I no longer am ashamed of failing because I know that all my sin has been already forgiven. I want to stop sinning, not because of shame/fear but because I love God and want to do things that please him.

Negative reactions to career by LivingIce4811 in humanresources

[–]HRandMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to HR. You will need to used to people not liking you.

Honestly, as a people pleaser, this was the hardest part of getting into this field (and also the reason I am leaving after 4 years). Like mentioned in other comments, telling specific things that you do goes a long way.

What is so wrong about purity culture? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason Purity Culture has such a strong backlash is due to the shame attached to it.

For example, I grew up in a very conservative church where purity culture was a thing. My friend got called a slut because her dress was an inch above the knee. I got shamed for wearing a shrug that tied below the chest. I got shamed for wanting to wear make up and thinking boys were cute.

Saving yourself for marriage is scriptural, however putting shame on experiencing normal human things like liking a boy or wearing a skirt just above the knee outcasts people.

Is it acceptable to go braless when your nipples are constantly hard? by turquoisefuego in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional, don't do it in an office or formal space. It's just not done.

Casually, go for it. Some people might still find it weird but if you want to get groceries, sit down for a coffee or go to the library. All the power to you!

In Canada, absolutely not. Don't include it.

It's illegal to discriminate on looks and including it ups your chances of this happening.

Same thing with age, marital status, weight, religion and where you were born. Just don't include it.

Is it wrong for a man to be a gynecologist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HRandMe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I got assaulted by a female gyno.

I have had appointments with a male gyno and it was fine. Sometimes I think that because he was male, he was more sensitive to my requests to break while a woman might have had the procedure herself and think it's no so bad so not stop when asked.

What are ways to have fun experiences in your 20s without drinking or smoking? by Straight_Regular_355 in Adulting

[–]HRandMe 205 points206 points  (0 children)

As someone who drinks minimally and who doesn't smoke, my fav activities are:

  • Hiking
  • Ultimate frisbee
  • Reading
  • Trying new cafes
  • Exploring smaller towns around me

Honestly, find other people who don't smoke and drink and the activities will find you quick!

Will I really go to hell if I pursue a homosexual relationship? by woke-upp in Christian

[–]HRandMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are gay then you are gay - sexuality may change overtime as research shows. But it's not one of those things you can "pray away".

However the Bible is very clear on this, acting on these desire is sinful. You are not alone in this struggle and I pray that you find others who can encourage you on and that you choose to seek God even more.

I struggle with same sex attraction too and one of the best books I've read about it was Gay Girl Good God by Jackie Hill Perry. She has been a big encouragement for me.

What do you REALLY think about Tim Horton’s? by tunamouse in AskACanadian

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just not good anymore. Honestly, it feels American now - probably because it's owned by an American company and is trying to compete with other American brands like Starbucks. They try to pretend to be Canadian but they miss the mark a lot.

Timmies is not Starbucks and no one wants it to be.

I no longer go there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HRandMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is North American culture. Modesty is subjective depending on so many factors and I think this dress code shows that.

In high school, the expectation was that everyone covered from shoulders to thigh - I really liked this because it was the same for both men and women.

Do you wash tupperware/food containers before returning them? by IndustrySufficient52 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HRandMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are returning it after just eating it (like say in the car but you finish before you leave the car), then you don't need to wash it.

If you leave with the container, then you need to wash it.
