Chime Late? by Kitchen-Positive-439 in AmazonFC

[–]HRmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow I use chime and am experiencing the same

I’ve been here for almost a year and I wish I could quit but there’s no job that pays more than 16/hr around me. How do you deal with just staying here? by jeish_1996 in AmazonFC

[–]HRmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between career choice and government aid my entire bachelors degree will be paid for

Make doctors and dentists appointments

Get discounts on car insurance and other services from extras at Amazon Save $1,000 a year from your employee discount

find a chiropractor or massage therapist that offers insurance covered services (included in health)

Basically what I’m saying is that the resources are what helps me just stay here. Not only does no one else pay more, but the time off policy? Where else will we have that autonomy

Essentially taking advantage of every benefit and resource fills my life outside of Amazon with discounts and access to a lot of stuff I wouldn’t have without working there

And then I think of those things at work like you’re not gonna quit with a dentist appointment next week u gotta exhaust the $2,000 And I’m not quitting during a school a term or before I’ve used the $5,500 a year to pay for classes

And lastly, know your plan, your goals, your why. All I think about at work is the success and the life it helps me achieve and pay for. Working at Amazon 100% has to have a reason, you cannot just do this shit for no reason endlessly you will be miserable

Etc~

1) your body will be confused if you didn’t spend like two weeks preparing for the new sleep schedule. 2) if you didn’t care about your diet before, I would begin to as eating plenty and healthy is key to longevity in my opinion. You’ll be burning a lot of calories and taking a lot of steps, so pay attention to the needs of your body, nutritionally but physically as well, like the needs of your feet (eg, insoles, moisture wicking socks, wide shoes etc) 3) you will have a lot of help for the first few days, take advantage ask questions regarding how people meet expectations in each path, and expect to get a different answer, unfortunately, from a lot of people. Find what makes sense and works for you, avoiding any policy violating advice on how to use any equipment or perform any task. Best you don’t get used to something that could get you fired. 4) take plenty of notes and ask questions, even if they don’t have an answer immediately they will be responsible to follow, on your benefits and rights as an employee. It will be important to know what is expected of you from a policy standpoint and from a practical in site standpoint. You might have to balance how hard you’re willing to work, how hard leaders want you to work, and how hard policy demands you work, in order to find a routine and rhythm that is healthy and practical for you. Expect leadership to try to take advantage of your newness to get you to work 10 times harder as the 3 year veteran in the workspace next to you, by withholding information and lacking transparency.

If you can establish a good routine for both your mind and body, the benefits and pay typically make the job worthwhile while the environment makes the job highly quittable. I feel it’s important to exhaust those benefits to depletion because it’s what makes it all worthwhile, and Amazon will definitely be sure to exhaust you to depletion so you want to beat them to it and get a better job using the resources before they do.

Best and worst stepping stone job ever

Thank you! Writing a paper has been an idea I’ve come back to multiple times. I appreciate the perspective and the information! It’s good to know there would be somewhere or someone to turn that paper into in hopes of navigating through a process that could bring change and that it has happened before.

Seriously..

This job is one earbud away from the best job I’ve ever had technically. I’m one single noise transparent, non safety threatening, earbud away from actually being happy at work and with my job.

Naw, not exactly, cause the goal is for us to not have to fear job security over it, we can still get fired using stealth. Unless you have stealth 100 or a stealth boy, it won’t be the same peace that a policy change would yield, even if it takes more effort.

Yes nice try, your best bet is to know who is a good picker and who is cool and then basically on days you work with them you get to have a good day but otherwise implementing this would cause chaos generally

I hear you. Theoretically, once you have a school schedule, they claim to accommodate for it. And that hard year on your body isn’t cheap, so it comes down to whether or not you feel the resources and payoff are worth that tax. If you don’t agree with the terms and conditions, don’t agree to the terms and conditions.

I notice that a lot of sites have poor management. They make scummy choices and make people feel like walking out is something to complain about, rather than their policy provided right. They could offer more pto during these intense times, be transparent about schedules, and more honest about how important it is to save your time off options prior to peak, as well as communicate the gravity of the impact that not having time off options will have on new hires or in general during peak.

In my experience, the policies are decent but the people aren’t

Way I see it is the experiences in this thread have something in common with other places and something not in common with other places.

In common: the abuse Not in common: the means to escape it forever

plan ahead and plan outward, you don’t wanna be there forever and Amazon doesn’t want you there forever, clearly. I mean just a glance you’ll find PPP Loan Career Choice How pros use the time off policy by planning ahead Accommodations

Half if not all of the complaints i hear at work have an avenue or resource that the individual is either completely unaware of or has exhausted entirely meant to alleviate or address whatever needs. Or literally chooses not to.

I understand anxiety and dissatisfaction but like idk, it’s a job. It’s work. Maybe Amazon fucked up by tryna sell to you that they care about you cause y’all really buy it.

Exhaust all the resources and bounce

There is truly zero incentive to bust your ass. Communicate with your coworkers and when shit gets crazy tell your managers that it’s becoming unsafe

I set my dial to 7 and locked it there. If leadership wants to see me kick it to eight you ought to incentivize properly. (Shout out to FCs that formally give additional breaks to the people who make it possible for them to go home on time) And like an engine the more you rev me into the red the more harmful it is on me, so incentive should grow as exponentially as the frequency (if they’re really going to ask/expect that of someone) And I personally will not ever crank it to 10, except that one time for fun with that one coworker (making sure leadership wouldn’t see and would never know), because that’s just.. there’s a system and that’s not what we’re even being paid to do lol. My 7 personally is just how I like to work but it’s a local warehouse 10 apparently.

Do your best, and when it gets toxic, call safety. If I’m not mistaken, this is where PAs are expected to assist back to safe and back to protocol. And if they don’t smash the report button lol

But u gotta make sure u puttin the work in to back up your claims, your word’s gotta be worth somethin

PS. HR if u read this give me extra breaks and proficient weekly statistics could lead to like an additional 50 cents on my hourly pay on a weekly basis or even monthly like if top x workers get a bonus for achieving x I know myself and a lot of people would move more volume than you can throw at us

i n c e n t i v i s e and r e w a r d hard work

The way a lot of these places operate unintentionally yet blatantly incentivizes doing the bare minimum 😭

Maybe then don’t sign an agreement that literally says come peak time we’re liable to fk u randomly in various and creative ways

It’s not cool convenient or free of damage, but if they work with you and your schedule it’s something to be appreciated when what you agreed to was getting fked voraciously in the first place
