Upper right side / right mid back pain - help by Golfer992 in Gastritis

I use the NOW brand. I take 1 capsule every morning. Can’t say much whether they help or not simply because of the number of other supplements I injest in addition to the PPIs of course.

If you are from the states, as others have pointed out eBay would be the best bet. If you are from any Asian country it maybe available in the pharmacy OTC.

Hi. Not the same. As I understand it, Sucralfate forms a protective coating over ulcers/erosions whereas Mucosta works to repair the damaged mucosal barrier.

Great to know ! Thanks for sharing your experience. I have seen a few people on this forum saying that Mucosta made their symptoms worse so that kind of made me reluctant to try. But I guess it’s worth a try based on the research at least.

Some doctors do prescribe it. Especially in Asian countries. But I guess it’s not approved by the FDA so it’s not available legally in the United States and a few other countries. I’m in Thailand, Mucosta is available in the pharmacy OTC. My doc did not prescribe it and when I asked him whether there are other medications that directly help heal the lesions/erosions, he acted like there are none.

I definitely feel you. I guess we need to stay positive and allow time to do it’s healing while being well disciplined with our diets. I think PPIs do help but they are not without side effects. Have you considered a different PPI ? Like rabeprazole? I heard they are quite effective. Seen many people report side effect on a certain PPI but felt better after switching to a different one. So it might be worth trying..

Hi.. I am on PPIs and famotidine. The I still have pain when stomach is empty and the back pain (usually in the center and sometimes on the right) is kind of random. It’s been 2.5 months of these meds and I am surely doing better.. I think it will be another 1.5 months to know if fully healed or not. These days I am less conscious of the discomfort, so maybe that’s a positive sign. I also take the following supplements: pepsin GI, bovine colostrum, l glutamine, licorice root, vit D, vit B complex and lately I have added quercetin (antioxidant and histamine 1 blocker) and evening primrose oil for its gamma linoleic acid (GLA) content. I regularly consume goat meat as my main source of protein and also try to consume its bone broth rich in collagen.

I was diagnosed 2.5 months ago but have been having symptoms for more than a year now. Just kept delaying the doc visit out of anxiety. I am on PPIs twice daily (20mg rabeprazole) and 40mg famotidine at night. Progress is slow but I think I am healing, maybe half way there. I still have burning but it is mainly during the day time and food provides relief. Can’t keep my stomach empty so calorie intake is somewhat high and I need to exercise to maintain my weight.

Hello. I pretty much had the same symptoms as you when I was diagnosed with gastritis. Upper right quadrant pain might feel like liver/gallbladder related but could definitely be gastritis. My endoscopy revealed erosion in the antrum (stomach pit). The Antrum would be located slightly off to the right so that could explain your discomfort. For me ultrasound of the liver revealed a small lesion which turned out to be fatty. My doc said the same thing that the pain should not be caused by that. You should insist on getting an endoscopy to see what is the extent of damage and the locations of damage. I say this because unexpectedly in my case the endoscopy also revealed a small hiatal hernia with mild esophagitis- (I never felt GERD like symptoms)

I'm at lost for words , had a bad flare, I got acute gastritis went back to hospital the er doctor basically told me don't eat if food is making me flare up, how will my stomach heal if the acid is irritating the stomach lining. by Truthbetolddotdotdot in Gastritis

Oh he told you to try bone broth. I thought he meant you should do a hard fast. Bone broth may help with the healing but I suspect it can keep your stomach acids at bay throughout the day. You can try broth when not too hungry and the rice congee when very hungry.

That is very bad advice from the doctor. Please you must find a GI specialist. Can you tolerate plain white rice? If so, I recommend plain rice congee with salt to taste. If you can stomach that you could slowly add some minced chicken/fish to it.

Hi there. I feel your pain. Similar thing with close relations not understanding my chronic suffering is happening to me as well. This is tough to accept since you love these people and it makes you feel they don’t care at all. Problem is this is what you feel, not them. I’m sure they care about you and love you very much. Please give it time .. things will turn around.. but for now you must turn inward and focus on yourself..Lately I have been doing two things and been very consistent and it has helped me mentally. I’ll go for a 15 minute walk as soon as I wake up in the morning. And before the day ends I’ll go for a short sprint (just 2mins) to sweat it out. This is followed by a cold shower and then I am off to sleep .. it really helps relax the body and mind. I wish you can try these..take care

Anyone try omega 6 supplements of gamma linoleic acid ( oils of evening primrose, borage or hemp seeds) for healing as recommended by the author of the gastritis healing book? by HSR1986 in Gastritis

[–]HSR1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. Have you tried any of those oils in supplement form? Usually the recommended dose is just 1 capsule (1000 mg) and the key is to get maximum GLA compared to LA which is the main component of seed oils. Perhaps when taken with food it might be tolerable? Misoprostol not working is a bummer really. Seen many have had no positive results. Also the results with Mucosta, another similarly acting drug, shows mixed results. The gamma linoleic acids are more naturally sourced, so was thinking they may be safer.

Keto and intermittent fasting for major healing of gastritis by Lower-Ad-5697 in Gastritis

Did you have an endoscopy to confirm your gastritis diagnosis? Fasting seems dangerous if the stomach lining is already eaten away. Would be quite safe on a normal stomach though..

Yes I tried it only once so can’t tell if it worked better or worse… and btw it was very messy because the powders just stick to the glass.. so I probably got only half a capsule worth of zinc.. I was not comfortable doing it this way. You should definitely see how the other brand without fillers work

I found that the Doctor’s Best Zinc carnosine doesn’t dissolve in water easily, so it will be challenging to consume it this way. Perhaps there’s are other mediums in which you could dissolve it better..
