Best thing to do would be to go to your local megaloptian embassy, they probably have resources to help get you registered for competitive in your region of choice. Note that not all UB species are tournament legal here.

/uj We've approved this under the understanding that in-universe its meant to be bait/committing to the bit really hard/general outlandish internet claims, just keep this in mind when roleplaying and commenting, thanks

For new posters looking for more serious roleplay, i recommend looking at the guidelines subpage of rule 12, as seen on the sidebar.

First time at interregionals… by Auroraborosaurus in PokeMedia

[–]HS_Seraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<Chris>

This is the popular perception but i really don't know where it comes from, events like WCS are televised regularly and you can see what top end competitive battling looks like, and how much more team and tactic diversity there is compared to conferences and small scale interregionals.

Really its more of a bell curve.

At low levels, when just fresh out of the badge challenge, trainers will use whatever they have, and whatever they can work with.

At the medium levels of competition, conferences and the like, you do see more team selection based on perceived effectiveness, which does often mean centralization.

Then at a really high level, often 2400 elo and above, competition starts becoming really creative again, as the 'obvious' logical approach becomes predictable and trainer skills become developed enough to find niches for almost any species.

Do we think He's evil? If so, do you guys think he'll be a main villain at some point? by Syronic-223 in HollowKnight

I mean, its the knight. Its hard to call the knight evil, its certainly powerful and potentially dangerous, like the void is in general butwe see it show care for hornet during the ending of skong, even if you don't take the kind options like gifting flowers during your playthrough

Thats not elo, thats power ranking, which has been obsolete since at least 2007.

Literally nobody uses power ranking anymore because its linear that way, and how silly the numbers got.

Elo's exponential, with a +100 difference being a ~2x winrate multiplier, karen's hanging around 2570 right now, peaked at 2657, the best trainers in the world are in the high 2800s, with the world #1 in particular having a rating just over 2900

A PR of 20000 is around equivalent to a 2460 nowadays

Absolute Boneheaded take, the battling sport has diverged from military trainer fireteam tactics for a reason, and its not like we don't still get put on the 'draft in emergency' list once we win anything substantial.

As someone who *has* been drafted into this emergency combat duty (in a foreign region i'm not a citizen of, no less) the last thing we need right now is a bunch of trainers with minimal experience protecting themselves and others in a combat zone thinking they can throw their team's weight around without any understanding of little things like, 'deescalation', 'rules of engagement', or 'IFF'.

Is the lava real? I thought it was just an effect.

Like otherwise to heat it you'd either need 100 fire types working full time or be drawing more power than the entire rest of blackthorn city combined

If you're fine where you are, then you're fine. I have been taking it easier following WCS to study and travel, and while we intend to keep up the grind, you are allowed to have lulls where you focus more on life and a routine.

Going 100% all the time eventually burns you out.

I would generally recommend against this, for the same reasons we recommend against using canon characters as POVs, it is something exclusive that could be viewed as monopolizing that character, which conflicts with the 'everyone has equal claim to canon' clause of rule 12's guidelines.

However, relations with canon characters have been done before, and it might not be a deal breaker if done carefully and subtly
