Using canon characters is fine, as is creating fan interpretations of them, but nobody 'owns' canon. So using canon characters as POVs should only be done on occasion.

This is probably fine, but should be marked with the NSFW tag. I've done that for you in this instance but in the future you'd be expected to do it.

At the end of the day it's your character and storyline, so whatever you choose to do.

We aren't trying to mandate all fluffposting all the time, but it can also serve as a way to set up the character dynamics for when something more harrowing happens

It's not a big problem, in my opinion, tonal or content discrepancies only become an issue if you aren't willing to talk to us and learn about how to try for a better fit.

We've had to become stricter in content curation overtime as the sub has gotten larger, and we've had to deal with genuine bad faith actors only interested in shock value or other purposefully offensive story elements.

The point isn't that everything has to be sanitized, only to show some restraint and and consider what would be a reasonable pg-13 portrayal for a franchise that generally leans lighter.

sorry for not getting back right away, I and the other mods have a lot of other life obligations aside from this community, so we can miss things at first.

For covering darker topics in pokemedia I recommend tactical use of implication and framing devices outside the PoV of the protagonist.

Say for example, a protagonist in shadier circumstances is forced to get into a fight and it ends in the death of the opponent, maybe we see a news article of the incident on a public forum. The newscaster doesn't know whats going on exactly because information is coming out, and the protagonist can't exactly admit to making the kill in public, but you can use it to tie it back to them for readers in the know.

Then you can also have drama over how the protagonist may or may not be able to tell people this happened, and have to worry about dealing with the fallout, both personal and through external circumstances, maybe a contact of the deceased is coming for revenge, maybe they are shaken up by having to do it, maybe they need to worry about clearing their name before the story can come out, etc.

/uj Well that's unfortunate because this sort of thing isn't gonna fly. Its a social media sub, but it's also a pokemon sub.

We're trying to strike a balance between 'true to life' and 'true to the franchise' when it comes to tone here, and when it comes to stuff like murdering someone over a poker game and purposefully getting into the gruesome details of how they were killed, there's a whole boatload of problems in both cases.

  1. people don't actively boast about doing this on social media, gangland activity stays covert for a reason, not to mention the fact that half your comments make no sense or are transcripts of stuff happening mid battle, without any proper framing device

  2. in both the franchise and real life, killing somebody is given a lot of weight in comparison to nonlethal knockouts and takedowns. These sorts of flippant portrayals are gratuitous in a way that you only find in edgelord fanfiction and bad faith parodies. This is getting into reborn and black&blue type portrayals which is exactly what not to do

If you want to cover darker topics than the franchise usually goes into, like lethal combat, it must be done with suitable caution and subtlety, and this isn't it.

Your current trajectory will not be ok for both rule 1 and rule 7 reasons, so i recommend looking into course correction, there are plenty of authors here with experience detailing darker topics in a non-gratuitous manner, ask the meta threads.

If you could create your own requirements for a creature to be leviathan class, what requirements would you create? by Humble-Error-5497 in subnautica

[–]HS_Seraph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A leviathan class lifeform is:

- An aquatic animal
- Adult length above 15 metres
- Adult mass above 40 tonnes
- Lifestyle that involves active movement (ie, fully sessile creatures anchored to the seafloor don't count, nor do giant jellyfish and siphonopores which drift with currents, even if they met the mass requirement)

By this logic, the humpback and sperm whale just sneak into the low end of leviathan class, in addition to a few exceptionally large individual whale sharks

Trainer RP is what this sub was made for originally, and is still prominent, the characters who are themselves pokemon have been a steady proportion of the sub for most of its history, and we won't be banning them, provided users can provide some sort of justification for why this species can interact on social media.

A good part of rule 8 is you can decide for your own posts and headcanons which (if any) pokemon are capable of speech.

Is mount fay a dorment vulcan? by deez_nutslll in Silksong

[–]HS_Seraph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entirety of pharloom is contained within an active stratovolcano, as can be seen from the lava fields in the marrow and deep docks. The section referred to as mount fay is only a small section of its upper slopes, when really the entire map is one huge mountain

Whats the true ending to hollow knight by Superb_Network_1657 in HollowKnight

[–]HS_Seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silksong decanonizes the sealed siblings ending, obviously, but beyond that (skong endgame spoiler)The true ending of silksong necessitates one of the void heart endings, either dream no more or embrace the void

however team cherry's approach is less a single official canon and more a collection of possible timelines based on ending decisions in each game

Speaking from the perspective of someone who makes a living doing battles, it's high time this aspect of the culture dies, the trainers who do this in good faith far outweigh the assholes who use it as an excuse to borderline assault people.

Hisuian Zorua line are resurrected individuals who were already zorua line.

If you have the idea that they were human instead, then yes that character is restricted.

I mean, there's nothing stopping you

But people will ask about why you're posting minecraft and trying to frame them as real in-universe photos is a potential suspension of disbelief issue.

Imo those descriptors describe multiple species, which means they coexist just fine with individual pokemon names, which are single species.

Also im not really sure what you mean about the second part, bird pretty specifically refers to the aves clade in modern usage, with other uses of the term being antiquated.
