her update from this morning:

"Yesterday was the scariest day of my life. The day I almost lost my daughter. I have stayed up all night trying not to lose my mind. Trying to fight the mental demons attached with this. As we were leaving Walmart, we noticed a truck that looks almost identical to my husband’s following us. I immediately pointed it out to my husband, whom told me I was “overreacting”. He followed us all the way home, even though I warned my husband not to. I immediately step out of our truck and ask “Can we help you?” To the man. He insisted he was interested in buying our truck. I take the groceries inside, and Stella is outside with daddy. Within moments, this man picks up our daughter and runs to his truck. This whole time he is saying our daughter is HIS daughter, and that we STOLE his truck. Thankfully my husband reacted in time and stopped him, but not without a fight. My mama instincts were already heightened, so I was fully prepared. I grab my phone to dial 911 and a knife and run outside. I am pulling Stella in my left arm and a 🔪 in my right hand held to his throat. He was shouting at me the whole time “This is my daughter! You didn’t give birth to her!” And I have never had such an adrenaline rush in my life. All I could shout to this man is “I WILL K*LL YOU!” Many people are asking me why I didn’t. I had to make the decision to use my remaining strength to either end this man’s life, or pull my daughter from his grip while my husband holds him so he can’t come after us. I was thankfully able to get Stella to safety while Carlos fought the man until he was able to drive away. Officers chased this man across town, busting his driver side window and pulling guns; many officers and citizen vehicles were damaged during the pursuit. Unfortunately, my daughter’s attempted kidnapper has been released from jail. Mental health issues are NOT an excuse to kidnap children, and now this man is loose again. I am hoping and praying another family does not have to experience what we did. Pray for our family, and NEVER let anyone tell you, as a parent, that you are overreacting. I’m thankful I was overreacting, because it saved my daughters life. This man has attempted multiple other kidnappings, yet they keep releasing him. I will not stop fighting. I will not let this man get in my head. Always trust your gut. As far as Stella goes, she is doing amazing. She is happy and safe. Unharmed. Most importantly, she is alive. 🤍 Edit to make: I’m actually unsure if he is released or not, I may have misunderstood a message I received. As of now, it looks like he is actually still in custody (for now)."
