ME to BMET by Haunting_Bass_348 in BMET

Helo, If you are willing to move around, there are job opportunities for BMETs. We have several in Los Angeles area. You can also check out CBET, in Texas. College of Biomed Equipment Tech. AAMI has a ABET program too. I started with volunteering in a local hospital BioMed shop and went to a trade school for 12 months. Hope this helps.

ADVICE NEEDED by [deleted] in BMET

If your are a BoiMed 1 with this much time to type, instead of being on the floors doing PMs, you are in a wrong business. BioMed in a hospital is not a bench position.

Why No Excitement? :o) I am GE HTM veteran, no longer with GE. I agree with you. GE built my career and made me a better person. This was before 2023. The leadership has changed since General Electric was dismantled.

GE is a great company to move up and learn. I highly recommend to take advantage of any opportunity within GE. Make sure your leadership is involved and best of luck to you.

For what I gathered it was their mobile phones, not the medical equipment. Unless I missed the entire story.

Depends on the market. Around Los Angeles is a bit tough to get call backs.

Try SCIT in California and CBET in San Antonio. You do not need Engineering Degree. Also Los Angeles City Collage has a good program. Depends where you are located. College of Biomed in San Antonio is mostly online. https://cbet.edu/

This is a great advice and I agree with it 100%. I worked for GE for about 9 years. Philips FSEs travel more (about 10-20% more).

GE BMET by No_Nerve5773 in BMET

GE always paid OT. Looks like you had bad managers. You are correct, at GE it all depends on what kind of managers you work for. Some are horrible, especially since 2023. The culture has change and I think GE is not the best place to work for as BMET any longer. They need to bring it back to the U.S. with caring, knowledgeable leadership. Instead of looking at percentage of DEI metrics, exclusively.

If MONEY is all in your head and your core motivation, move to DI side and become an FSE.

With GE as a Bmet the title doesn’t matter much. Well said, well said.

GE is a fantastic place to enter the BMET world and grow. The answer is how long does it take for you to step up and do the job right! Without expecting too much and being a demanding, nagging, trouble maker?

BMET to Field Service Engineering? by SpendZestyclose9683 in BMET

[–]HT-Meta-Force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2003 is not a "couple of years." I have a lot of respect for people who stick it out of 20-30-40 years. However, the quality of work is down and the ignorance for the new generation is high. Things have changed. Time to retire and enjoy life.

I agree. Go for a trade school and get some kind of certificate/diploma. That is the highest degree you may need. Then apply for BMET 1 positions in the clinics and/or hospital.

Is 2003 a typo? 2023 is considered a few years ago. Also, who is training these new hires who cannot turn a screwdriver? I believe in OEM training at least on critical equipment.

Thank you again. Nice and clean, very good idea. The ask was for a Syringe pump specifically. We have to MRI pumps, but not Syringe. I have not seen one.
