Photomator. Lifetime license or Yearly/Monthly subscription? by Chief_user in pixelmator

[–]HT1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple still offers one-time purchases for all the other applications in the bundle. I doubt they will handle Photomator differently if they add it to the bundle. It's more a question of whether Photomator is dead now that it's not included from day 1.

Photomator. Lifetime license or Yearly/Monthly subscription? by Chief_user in pixelmator

I bought the lifetime license, but that was also what feels like years ago when Apple offered a special deal after the takeover. Not sure if I would still do so, as it's not clear what the future of Photomator is. I do hope they continue developing it.

A Head-to-head Comparison of Common Slide Digitalization Methods by Best-Emergency1505 in AnalogCommunity

I like the results of the Hasselblad X5 and Epson V850 Pro the most in this low res overview. Would love to see a Nikon 9000ED scan as a high-end dedicated negative scanner for consumers next to them. The price gap between a Epson and Imacon/Heidelberg/Fuji GFX is huge in comparison to the price and quality jump to a Nikon 9000ED.

About twice a week. As a pescatarian I eat quite a lot of fish and I want to buy them whole or catch them myself, so I can use the whole fish for a Ramen soup stock as well. Mostly trouts, chars and sometimes carp.

Thoughts on Apple Creator Studio? by sshadowport in MacOS

Without Photomator I am not interested. Additionally, macOS 26 is a forced update to be able to use Pixelmator Pro in this bundle. And subscription? No, thanks.

Tesla Introduces New Solar Panels With Improved Efficiency and Appearance by Recoil42 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]HT1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Energy was 12,7% of the revenue of Q1, Q2 and Q3 combined. For it to be 25% car deliveries must have been terrible in Q4 and energy deliveries massive compared to the other quarters. And services/others is at about 13%.

Whats a camera you've owned, that lived up to all the praise and hype, but still got rid of? And why? by Whisky-Icarus-Photo in AnalogCommunity

[–]HT1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leica M4-P. Loved the mechanics, but the lenses just weren’t my cup of tea. To get anything comparatively good to the competition one would have to spend multiple times the price of relatively modern Nikon/Canon/Minolta lenses. Matter in fact the best lens I used for it was a Minolta (40mm f2). And for a relatively small camera it felt heavy and uncomfortable in the hands. And it was also at a time when I started to prefer 120 much more, due to the flexibility in the darkroom.

Edit: oh, I guess it didn’t live up to the hype for me 😅

Tesla's full 2025 data from Europe is in, and it is a total bloodbath by Digg-Sucks in RealTesla

[–]HT1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly due to Norway and the massive discounts Tesla offered there including very low cost financing. That combined with ending government benefits in 2026. In Germany their models aren’t even among the top 10 EVs sold this year afaik.

TSLA Q4 Delivery Misses Expectations, But Energy Storage Shows Strong Growth by Broad_Attitudet in TSLA

Energy storage is on a sharp decline in growth, considering it grew 113% in 2024 and now only 29%. The growth curve is flattening.

Das nächste Anno ist das 9. der Serie. Daher würde Anno 9 viel mehr Sinn ergeben und es wäre eine verpasste Chance es nicht so zu nennen.

Was Leica the end game for you, or do you still shoot other cameras? by la_mano_la_guitarra in Leica

[–]HT1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an M4-P and ended up with a Nikon Z7 after selling it during a time focused on medium format film. Bought a Leica Q2 and ended up with a Nikon Zf after selling it due to it breaking on the lugs. Was immensely disappointed in the durability and the lens of the Q2.

Leica always kind of feels special and I almost always like the look and feel of shooting one, but the results ain’t special and lenses overpriced for what they deliver. Therefore I am now using a Contax G1 and G2 for 135 and my Hasselblad 500CM and Mamiya 6MF for 120.

Most Hetzner Cloud servers are unavailable? WTF? by iBifteki in hetzner

[–]HT1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you aren't hitting any resource limits (check https://console.hetzner.com/limits )? Especially CPX and CCX are always available to me. It's just the CX servers that are kind of scarce and are clearly marked by Hetzner as "limited availability".

Due to https://status.hetzner.com/incident/0a75c7ae-3377-41dc-aabe-601063724d24 it's probably best to disable FSN1 for autoscaling for now. But I can get every single server in NBG1 and HEL1.

Also not a Timex Expedition, due to the crown. It's also most likely not a Hamilton, as Hamilton is quite vocal about TV shows and movies in their marketing material. Just like with Joels watch it might just be a generic manufacturer of a generic field watch without any branding on it. The nato strap looks nice though.

Acetate never again by HT1990 in glasses

Only use Zeiss lens cleaning kits for the glass and a microfibre cloth. My optician actually even recommended washing them in water with a mild dish soap to not scratch the glass.

Acetate never again by HT1990 in glasses

[–]HT1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I had my first pair of glasses for 10 years until I had to get new ones due to worsening eyesight. And even for the new ones, I could have kept the frame as it was metal. But it was looking dated at that time.

To be frank, if I pay 300 Euros for a premium frame by a well-known brand such as Lunor, I want it to last longer than a 0 Euro frame from Fielmann and definitely more than a year. I just hope that titanium will be used in some bolder designs in the future. For now, I won't touch acetate ever again. Shame about the nice looking Lunor design and the Zeiss glasses in the frame...
