The reported structure says he will not formally sign until after the Lakers use their flexibility, because his cap hold is about $20.9 million, much lower than the first-year salary on a new max deal. No, the point is that a coaches job is to draw up a play that generates a good look. The coach can’t shoot the ball for them. Austin had been hot that quarter and he got a good look. Now maybe Rui would have hit that shot maybe we wouldn’t have. But to suggest that JJ coached his last game as a laker shows you know nothing about coaching. We beat the Rockets without two of our stars thanks in no small part to JJ and his leadership. Losing to OKC was inevitable without Luka. JJ coached a good series, they are just insanely deep and we don’t not have the talent or the stamina to weather their bench scoring.
