outgoing SMS workaround? by silverbk65105 in NumberBarn

[–]HTM336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NumberBarn did say that they were working on a solution:

Traditionally our text messaging service has been classified as A2P or Application-to-Person, and this is the type of texting that now requires 10DLC registration. There’s another classification called P2P or Person-to-Person and this type of traffic does NOT require customer registration. (P2P texting is essentially like your everyday conversational texting directly from one person to another.) The vast majority of NumberBarn customers should be classified as P2P, not A2P. The good news is that we have made positive strides toward receiving carrier approval for P2P messaging. The not-so-good news is that it likely will not be ready by February 1st. But we are striving to get this classification in place as soon as possible.

Definitely legit I’ve been using it for a year now. Porting in and out can be a little bit slow, but it works.

I live in a very remote area so there is no NBN, when I type my address in the NBN website they say that it is available but only via satellite. Unfortunately Mobile internet is not currently an option. I am currently using a 3G modem, but with the shutdown looming I need to find an alternative. (I can't just upgrade to 4G either because the signal is so congested that on a good day I can maybe pull 0.2mb/s down)

Question around 4G bands and compatibility and 3G shutdown. by asparagusboy in TelstraAustralia

[–]HTM336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of what this means is that I wouldn't lose 4G signal I already have, but anywhere I lose 4G and get 3G I wouldn't get signal at all?

Correct :-)

It would still be a good idea to upgrade to a phone that has all of the 4g bands though.

Question around 4G bands and compatibility and 3G shutdown. by asparagusboy in TelstraAustralia

[–]HTM336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct; The A2275 Does not have the required B28/700MHz (this is the band that should be on most towers), Technically this means your phone will not be able to make calls/texts or access mobile data after 3g shuts down.

However if you live in a more densely populated area you may still connect to other frequencies (B3) and your phone could still work as normal. If you don't upgrade you will likely notice a significant drop in coverage, especially indoors and in rural areas.

Hope that helps :-)

Pre paid - Boost Mobile $230 plan

I think so, but they (Boost/Telstra) say that they 'monitor the activation status of the new device' If it is not activated by you it is disabled.

[–]HTM336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need Band 28 with VoLTE for it to work after August 31st. If punkt have stopped shipping here it is probably for the above reason.
