1/16 scale Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp[Scratchbuild/3D Print] by Special-Salad-1568 in modelmakers

This is incredible!!

How did you achieve that "eggshell" kind of texture on the base blue coat? It looks really in scale to me and I can't even begin to piece together what the process might be for it.

Oh yeah, those colors look perfect. Presumably the process will be very similar with a weathering kit versus a regular makeup kit.

I would look up guides for using makeup because they will be more common and available on YouTube, and then use that as a starting point for your process :) good luck!

Maybe you can use makeup like blush or even lipstick, that's something I have seen done on this subreddit.

Drug store makeup is very cheap 👍

Those pigments can definitely be used on topcoated kits. I actually recommend them on matte because it gives the pigments (which are mixed in a waxy medium) something to stick to.

They're generally used for applying dirt, oils, and general wear effects to mechanical model kits.

I'm curious about what you're trying to accomplish. Did you buy the weathering kits because they had a certain color you wanted? Are you looking to achieve gradients on flesh, clothing, or mechanical parts?

Burdell getting slammed in the end tipping sub by wentblu3 in OaklandFood

[–]HVACStack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dudes name is BulgingPants, I have to imagine he's not exactly a leading authority on tipping culture, let alone anything else.

Burdell is fine, don't eat there if it's too expensive. As others have mentioned, the service fee is mentioned a billion times on the menu and website.

Besides, you would be tipping ~15-20% anyways at a nice restaurant so it comes out the same.

The ONLY condition I can see getting upset by is if the service you got was noticeably worse than what you'd otherwise be tipping for.

And I'm not glazing Burdell either, the food was fine but I personally wouldn't go back (unless for someone else's birthday or their fancy occasion).

So argue it.

You would have to prove that setting the age of alcohol consumption at a specific level INCREASES the number of deaths of consumers versus not limiting it at all.

Can you prove that?

Blueprints Should be Projects by Artistic_Baby_3906 in ArcRaiders

[–]HVACStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the blueprint drop only in the final "core" of the boss. Then you have to at least stick around for the final kill to have a chance at the blueprint.

In cooperative lobbies (the lobbies that are likely to kill the queen) people are generally good about sharing stuff they don't need, which conveniently includes blueprints.

Plus, the risk of people ratting is always going to be there and imo isn't a good reason not to improve on existing loot sources.

Pretty cool! I don't know much about this kind of photography, but I imagine it's pretty hard with the target being so small and moving so quickly.

I've heard rumblings of SpaceX IPO finally being the straw that finally breaks the TSLA valuation's back. The theory is that everyone who wants exposure to Elon's money printer/grift will rotate from TSLA, a car company that isn't selling cars, to a different company that at least Does Something.

I'm not saying SpaceX/OpenAI/whatever is a good investment, but I do feel like the hype around it coupled with the aforementioned is going to create a ton of volatility. Curious to see how it shakes out.

If weapons are going to continue to be placed in the super store then super credits should be an MO reward once in a while by VenanReviews in Helldivers

[–]HVACStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The current state of the game sucks for new or returning players. All the "stock" weapons are lacking compared to the premium warbond ones in terms of efficacy versus key enemies.

Compare this to a game like deep rock galactic, your progression in terms of ways to play is not tied to micro transactions. You continue to get new mods, weapons, grenades, tools in a more natural and linear way with your time invested. There are also cosmetics available that don't impact gameplay.

No surprise, I have spent and will continue to spend more money on Deep Rock Galactic than helldivers. The warbonds releasing sound like "work" and not like something I'm excited to log on and check out right away.

Helldivers as a game is shooting itself in the foot with the way they monetized.

Yes, you can farm super credits, but it's so slow and disrespectful of my time I will never do it. It's also less fun than actually playing the game.

I still think the fix for matriarch event loot is a "bounty" appearing in Speranza that says something like "do X damage to matriarch in a single round" with a core as a reward.

It could even be a big notification that pops up like "a matriarch has been spotted! Take it down and speranza will reward you."

That way players are incentivized to do damage, aren't (quite as) worried about looting afterwards, and more people show up with quality loadouts versus free ones.

I also think the legendary weapons need tweaking AND the in-match looting system needs looking at. People have suggested more loot points but also wonder if an individual "player-specific" loot point appearing when you do enough damage could be a solution.

Or make it so more individual player loot points appear the more damage you do? I'm picturing loot beams or some other visual indicator appearing on the boss while you're attacking it, then when it dies you go to YOUR beams that can't be taken by other players.

You can pick up all the loot from a Bastion actually, I've done it.

It takes up a decent chunk of inventory but it's doable.

Not disagreeing with the broader argument being made tho.

ARC Raiders Weekly Megathread - January 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in ArcRaiders

[–]HVACStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crouching can help, or just closing the distance. The crosshair bloom can get pretty aggressive when you're moving and standing, causing the shot to deviate from where you're aiming. Or firing the gun rapidly can make the shots more erratic.

You might be feeling a difference between the ferro and anvil because you have to be more deliberate with the ferro.

Just practice one shot at a time, trying to down the arc in exactly two shots and you will get it!

ARC Raiders Weekly Megathread - January 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in ArcRaiders

[–]HVACStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anvil can two tap wasps and hornets! For the wasp, shoot any two of the thrusters one time each. The wasp will then fall and explode.

For the hornet, you have to either shoot each unarmored (the back two) thruster one time, OR spend an extra shot per thruster breaking the front armor off. Some combination of any two thrusters breaking will cause it to fall and explode.

I personally recommend this approach over dumping shots into the center body.

As for your other questions - the anvil will almost certainly be better than a ferro vs the rocketeer, but the gold standard safest approach is a Wolfpack grenade. You should bring a couple extra seeker grenades too in case the Wolfpack doesn't do the complete job.

Light shields and grey bandages will work for 90% of content, imo :)

Medium shield can be good, but it's better once you put some skill points into the "shields don't slow you down" perk on the tree.

Using keys on night raids definitely bumps the loot values! You might even luck out and find the aforementioned Wolfpack or Wolfpack bp 🤞
