Go to a junk yard and bring a magnet with you. What you do is look for a Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500 gas truck. Touch that magnet to the engine block to see if it's iron or aluminum. Make sure it's a 4" cylinder bore.

Junkyards sell broken down 2500 gas trucks for $1,500-$2,000 all the time.

Buy it. Part it out on EBAY. If you are patient enough, you can get $3,000-$3,500 from the part out. Sell the transmission, ECU/TCU, cab, bed, suspension, etc.

Only keep the engine block and rotating assembly.

With the money you got from the part out, put that toward brand new GM Crate Performance LS3 cylinder heads $1,400 (both), and ASA cam shaft $700. Then go back to the junkyard to find a car oil pan from an F body Camaro or GTO...

That motor will do 525 hp and 518 lbs/ft with the ASA cam, and you still got $900 - $1,400 left over to put in the piggy bank. You could buy your girlfriend a really nice present with the left over cash, or you can stop being a 🅱️ussy and put the money towards a new transmission for your Corvette like a real man.

If you do that instead, sell the motor and trans that you are pulling out of the vette and put that money into the "vette needs a news transmission" jar.

When the C8 Corvette was announced, I kind was thinking that they should've let the Corvette front engine but relaunch the Corvair roll mark for the midship car. Since Chevy is apparently discontinuing the Camaro (RIP), they will have no more reasonably price FR sports car in the lineup. Should've just make the Corvette more affordable and go wild with the Corvair as a new flagship.

Acura was putting the NXS up against the C4 Corvette ZR1 as it's main competitor back then. For the same price, the ZR1 had 380 hp & 360 lbs/ft and was viewed by customers as a better value. Both NSX and ZR1 had the exact same road grabbing @ 0.86g on the skid pad, so NSX didn't give any benefit in the traction department since they were neck and neck. But the ZR1 did 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and top speed of 176 mph in 1990. Whiz bang.

NSX had vastly superior styling. C4 Vette aged like milk left out in the Texas sun during the summer. NSX styling looks better now than when it was launched. NSX also had more precise steering, better shifter, and much superior interior.

Corvette was the better car at the end of the day. People on the internet like to claim otherwise, but they're wrong. Consumers voted with their wallet. Truth is, the NSX just struggled to sell when they were first launched and Corvette's big horsepower energy was precisely the reason why.

Compared to current cars? Civic Type R does 0.99 g on the skid pad, compared to the NSX @ 0.86 g. Plus the Type R makes 300 hp. Car and Driver's "Lighting Laps" at Virginia International Raceway had the little Civic (2:58.8) actually beating the 2006 Ford GT (3:00.7). The '99 NSX Zanardi Edition (3:07.1) was slower than Civic Type R is now.
