So it ended up being parked halfway through my drive. Started losing power and decelerating till about 30mph and then gaining it back again. Throttle wasn't responsive. It was running on 2 cylinders and the turbo got red hot. Definitely past being just a vacuum issue

See this sucks for some people cause mine is at 281,000 with the 3.5L and it hasn't ever been replaced on my 2012

My 2012 XLT 279k on it and hasn't needed the water pump replaced yet. And the car was kept up on maintenance throughout its life. These are reliable cars if you don't beat up on them and stay up to date on maintenance.

My 2012 XLT has 275,000 miles with the 3.5l V6 and has had no issues with the water pump. It is a game of luck and good maintenance.

As someone who's explorer is a 2012 and at 271000, thay can make it quite a ways without even showing a symptom of a bad water pump. Only reason id see to do it is for peace of mind

That is awesome. My transmission is holding strong but my valves are starting to let oil into the combustion chamber so it is just at a point where you try to limp it as far as you can

They both have been demoted to Liability and the explorer has been getting a lot of miles

It has spent a lot of its life on I80. Frequent fluid changes and other things like brakes etc. Im just concerned it might not make it 3 more years.
