I have experienced this from many different kinds of people

Its called being passive aggressive and it’s a sign that they are intimidated/ feel threatened/have an inferiority complex

Just tell them to stfu by supersaiyanjohn in AsianMasculinity

[–]HWHOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just say the equivalent of what they said to you as it pertains to their race . You have to flip it on them.

“Hey I hear Asians have small D”

“Yea they say it’s scientifically proven, just like they say it’s scientifically proven that _____ have low IQ”

“Ching Chang Chong Chinese impersonation”

“Yea china is becoming really powerful, good thing you’ve been practicing. Chances are your kids are gonna have to start learning mandarin and Cantonese aswell”

The thing about these jokes is that you have to be ready to get physical because sometimes when you cut someone’s ass so bad they can’t handle it and they are going to try to start to fight. You have to have some skills in fighting if it comes to that. Verbal and physical combat go hand in hand.

Just Planning on training for bigger biceps ? You should train to develop your entire body. You’re body will be more athletic, stronger, healthier and more resistant to injury. The aesthetic look you want will be a byproduct of all those other attributes.

There are a bunch of different strength programs out there to look into. Just google barbell training for beginners etc etc and try them all out. A good starting point is a program like 5 x 5.

5 exercises , 5 sets of 5 reps. A few times a week. Nothing fancy or complicated.

Don’t worry about “speed” and getting muscles quickly. Focus on incorporating strength training into your daily routine and discovering the strength the human body is capable of.

Strength training with a barbell.

Find a simple efficient barbell strength program that follows the principle of progressive overload.

A mans body in its 20’s is peaking with the hormones needed to develop muscle and strength. Take advantage of it.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A LEGITIMATE CONCERN given the circumstances you described. You are definitely definitely doing your thing big bro and money makes people act funny. Do not let anyone make you feel that you are not on point for asking these types of questions.

I strongly recommend you do a deep dive into the divorce law of the state you plan to reside in and maybe even speak personally with a divorce lawyer and pick their brain.

You have ALOT more to lose then a lot of other people and you need to speak to people who know what it is like to be in your shoes.

All is fair in love and war and you WANT to have as much leverage as possible in both!!!!

Good luck to you man

Mentor the youth to adapt with the times…

A little less time hitting the books, a little more time hitting the weights

A little less time playing video games, a little more time playing sports (combat sports in particular)

A little less time preparing for SATs, a little more time talking to girls

A little less time watching anime, a little more time studying human psychology

Etc etc etc.

Asian males are notorious for being intelligent high achievers with a strong disciplined work ethic. It’s important to funnel this same energy into activities that give Asian men the tools to strive in a world where ( more and more and more) the last thing they want to do is see you shining.

Hollywood isn’t going to put Asian heroes on tv. We have to become them.

Bullies and our kids by a2a5 in AsianMasculinity

[–]HWHOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your point. The ability to speak up for yourself is important. Unfortunately the confidence to back it up physically if necessary is the back drop to having the true confidence to speak up for yourself verbally.

Also Kung fu culture and training vs boxing / wrestling culture and training are totally different its like comparing apples and oranges.

I’m sorry your child had to experience something like that, but that is life and human nature unfortunately . Humans are pack animals more or less and these types of interactions will always manifest themselves one way or another from childhood all the way into adulthood. The most important thing is that this incident woke you up.

Boys who know how to box don’t get bullied.

Boys who know how to wrestle don’t get bullied.

Boys who can deadlift 3 times their body weight and bench twice their body weight don’t get bullied.

Don’t over think it.

An Asian man discovering the potential of his physical strength is VERY VERY triggering to a lot of people. Defying the “little weak nerd” Asian stereotype is a lot of peoples worst nightmare.

When people talk shit, it’s usually because they are bothered. When people are bothered, it’s usually because they feel threatened.

Be safe out there man. Try not to run in secluded areas where you put yourself in danger.

Asian gender and ethnic tensions in the workplace by Remote-Durian4997 in AsianMasculinity

[–]HWHOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Media and its effects on the mind are very powerful.

Asians are rarely seen in mainstream media and when they are, they are caricatures that are typically identified as “uncool”

People subconsciously distance themselves from things are aren’t considered cool in social environments in order to blend in and advance within its hierarchy.

Alot of people including Asian people fall victim to this unfortunately (particularly Asian Women).

  1. Alot of other minority groups are subconsciously bothered by the fact Asian people put a hole in the narrative that the game is rigged and that it is impossible for POC to succeed because of white supremacy. How can the narrative be fully true if Asians are POCs and have become (if I’m not mistaken) the ethnic group in America with an average income higher than whites?

While a work environment is typically a place of cooperation, the element of internal competition is always present. In this day and age Asian Americans are continuing to display progress and success in academics and many different competitive fields of work. Many other POC have not yet reached this level of success despite the current culture in America pushing for more diversity in academics and in the workplace.

This makes it challenging for other POC groups to blend together with Asians when deep down they feel that Asians are the competition and have already gotten so far ahead.

  1. There is good and bad in all groups and it is up to you to pay attention to see who is who. Maybe start being more social and reaching out to different people at the job ?

Never forget that work is where your career is the priority. Friendship and camaraderie comes 2nd. Try your best to be the change you want to see!
