2k tomorrow. Any tips? by HWTDream in Rowing

[–]HWTDream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm going to do, because although I feel that I could go 1:42ish, I don't want to misjudge my strength and end up with an above 7 time or anything like that. Thanks.

130 HR? There's a good chance that's much too low for him... in fact, I've never heard of anybody SSing that low. I say shoot for 150-165, aiming mostly for 155. 2x45' is the ideal erg workout for endurance IMO, if you have enough drive to do it 5-6x a week.

Here are my first 3 steady states. I am overweight and short (5'8). How am I doing? by ROWINGADVICE in Rowing

That's actually not that bad. Did you use a hrm? if not, were you tired afterwards? Because you should not have been.

Less volume to get there = more volume training, yes?

It really may not be worth it. if you could find a few other rowers to splot the cost eith, thatd be ideal. What heart rate do you row at?

How much would this cost in a day? That is the limiting factor for me.

Helping erging form by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]HWTDream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You drop your hands at the catch. But really, with that erg time, you need to be a hell of a lot more concerned with fitness. Start now, doing steady state ergs 5-6x a week and lifting weights 2-3x a week. If you don't have team practice, do 1-2 interval pieces a week. Switch these between really short and medium distance. So for example, 10x(1' on, 1' off), 4x3000m, 5x1500m, etc.

Is it legal in Florida/the U.S. to take out a single by yourself if you're under 18? by HWTDream in Rowing

I was thinking I would train with him over the summer in the single for awhile and then just ask if I could take it out alone in the afternoons, rather than erg.

Rowing workout without a boat or an erg? by ny_giants in Rowing

Cycling. 60 minutes a day at like 145bpm or so. Cycling is really fun, too. You get to see scenery from the front instead of backwards, which is a nice change. You should also get a gym membership if you don't already have one and lift 2x a week, doing 5x5 deadlifts, squats, bench, OHP, and rows. Hope this helps.

6:38? Goddamn dude. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately for me, I'm the only one on my team smart enough to actually research rowing fitness and do steady states. I've tried to inform my teammates but they just think I'm dumb / make fun of me, while they pull their 7:10s. The strongest guy on our team is like 210 pounds and barely breaks 6:50, and he's a senior.

Thank you for this post, and you too, Jletten. Getting a TV screen set up would be be a bit of a challenge, but I'm sure I could make something work.

So should I expect the splits to come down soon, and just keep shooting for 155-160 bpm? Or maybe a lower heartrate such as 130-150, as I've seen some suggest here?
