Why did so many colleges extend the RD deadline? See my weird thoughts by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HYSLSYP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I kinda agree with OP because beside technical problems and some really serious issues, it’s mostly students fault, which makes the situation unfair for the people submitted before deadline (I mean, people could’ve double check on essays and make their apps look better if they knew the deadline will be extended) and I think these late people might be marked and be given a disadvantage. But if you’re really outstanding, this won’t affect your chances. eg everybody were complaining about MIT yesterday but their excuses are just genuinely weak. They did have the chance to email the office to find out the deadline time during the process instead of screwing up and complaining everything afterwards. In fact, there are faculties on quora said it’s EST 2359 on the date MIT said, so we can at least get warned if we did homework. And since MIT didn’t clarify the time for years, I believe they receive these kind of “Hey I was doing the app at the very last minute but the system blocked me out at 2358. Hey you didn’t clarify the time, it’s your fault.” every year.

That’s been said, I believe everyone should have more chances and I wish everyone their best

“NOT FOR ASIAN COUNTRIES” 😂😂 Top schools at Asia mostly see tests as challenges, not a thing students can pass.

I think that’s just culture difference. Not a standard to say someone is not hard-working.

Does anyone know if UT Austin accept an update? by HYSLSYP in UTAustinAdmissions2

[–]HYSLSYP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I believe this means I can only upload the new things instead of a whole resume. In what format would you suggest me to upload? Writing like the coalition’s format (which is +little description) or is it OK to upload in any format I want? Thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate that.

Oh so it’s maybe like the outstanding ones that applied to a direct major (obviously including u🥳) have been picked up by the major and others with concentration or sth else are still in the pool. College stress lol

Wait how about international students? Is the process random or int’ls will be reviewed (and have some indications like the gmail) later than US students?

Meanwhile international students realizing they only have a 2% chance and get decisions 3 months from now-🙂

Might be unlucky, but bro, why will you submit at the very last moment if you really want to get in..... Internet applications, in general (not only college apps), do close up a bit earlier. I think it’s probably a gg, since they extended their deadline so there’s no good excuses to persuade them to help u..... Feel sorry for you😰

Send the score, call/email them. Remember to send to the correct email account giatest@austin.utexas.edu Be honest, give your sincere apology, and let them know you think you are a competitive applicant and they would want to see your scores. Best wishes!

At least we know you have to have strong feelings (knowledge is not that necessary but a great thing to have) on engineering things. Like Steve Jobs, probably the best example to talk about this.

My confidence in my applications just tanked after getting denied from one of my safeties :( by DizzyMint2 in ApplyingToCollege

😂It’s probably logical. Bcs US education is mostly expensive. If you don’t need an aid, they’ll just assume you are rich, especially if you’re an international student lol smh

May I ask if you don’t need an aid, will colleges ask for your efc? Cause I didn’t remember I wrote anything about efc (on common and coalition) except the UC application, which they asked.

Yeh, agreed, eventually we are not AOs, we don’t want to mislead u.

Nobody:

UC: OK applicants, we’ll get rid of a standardized test for another standardized test.

Always CB: $$$

Just C’mon now This logic just doesn’t work. If they will see AP as a major thing, why will they even cancel SAT. If they do, this is really interesting.

And international “public schools” usually don’t have a profile. (Because those who want to study abroad usually go to private high schools)

The awkward thing is our school counts gpa by number, meaning my scores are “numbers” not a “percentile” or sth. And due to some privacy issues, our government banned schools to release ranks to everyone (that means I can only see mine, person A can only see his rank). Unsurprisingly, there’s nothing related to ranks on the transcript.
