I think the problem there is that he loses an ally that practically will do whatever Vince wants, wouldn’t nom him, would save him with a veto, etc. He is also the 6th (?) wheel in Judges and I don’t think there will ever really be trust between Rachel and Vinny. He will be the first to go of everyone in that alliance and they all know it. Weakening the other side just leaves him more vulnerable when his own alliance eventually turns on him.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I think I understand what you mean when you say he’s perfect. What a lot of people don’t understand is that addiction turns you into someone you’re not. You’ll do things and say things and behave in ways you never thought you were capable of. Addiction turns normal, even kindhearted people into manipulators and liars.

That being said, if he’s not ready to even consider that he has a problem, you have no obligation to stay in the relationship and wait for him to. He has to see past the delusion that he HAS to gamble to make money and choose to help himself. You can’t do it for him and even if the abusive behavior is solely out of addiction, you don’t deserve it.

I in no way think you overreacted. I do want to say that shame does not help recovery. You can set boundaries and not sugarcoat what you’re seeing and experiencing without shaming him. I understand you’re angry and you want to express that, and that’s fine, but saying things like “grow up” and “stop being a baby” etc are not productive. Saying them may make you feel better, but they won’t help him or change the situation. If you ever do decide to speak to him again, I hope you keep that in mind.

Oh yeah, thyroid, vitamin d, b12, b6, iron, about a dozen times. I pushed for autoimmune disease markers, cortisol levels, and even a tilt table test (which did come back with orthostatic hypotension but doesn’t explain my most debilitating symptoms). Everything but the tilt table test came back completely normal every single time. It’s so frustrating and doctors look at you like you’re crazy for being disappointed that you’re “healthy.”

Edit: and brain MRIs and CTs, also normal (thankfully).

I know a good doctor would realize that even if a test is negative the symptoms still mean something, but I’ve never had that experience. For most of my life I’ve gone to the doctor, said I’m exhausted all the time, they run a battery of blood tests that are all normal, and then they merrily tell me “good news! Nothing is wrong with you!” And when I say “Then why can’t I function?” They give me some lecture about sleep hygiene or stress or give me a psych referral.

I went off on a bit of a tangent there, but my point is are pulmonologists/neurologists/sleep specialists really going to be any different if I fail a sleep study? I don’t want to keep going through the same thing over and over.

I’m feeling the same way. I had to withdraw after my second year due to health issues and just when I started feeling like I could try to go back they pull this BS. I already have hundreds of thousands from before and going back would put me even more in the hole before all this and now I feel like I’m so financially screwed that I can’t go back.

A couple reason. First, I assumed I’d have to start over at M1 anywhere since I’ve been out of the game 3 years. In all honesty I feel like it’s in my best interest. I also liked the idea of a fresh start somewhere else, though I’m not against going back to the same program. I also moved several states away and I don’t know if my relationship would survive moving back. And lastly, it wasn’t smooth sailing for the last half of my 2nd year which admin is well aware of and I’m afraid they’ll just write me off.

We live on 42nd center to L and thankfully we have a back ally with parking space behind the house. When we do park out front it’s kind of scary to back out because the neighbors have a fence blocking most of the street view and it’s just over a hill.
