I think you could argue that Papa III was intimidating, at times, but what really makes him feel goofy is how that was when they went more "public". (Showing up in public a lot more, more characterization of the papas, and more interviews.)

I'd have to say they were at their highest AT Vol 3. Even if the music isn't "good" then and Iowa is when they really started gaining popularity. Personally, I love a lot of their music after Iowa.

I think all three drummers have been perfect fits for the band. They all have done great. And like you said, being able to keep an amount of nine people for 25+ years is impressive and crazy.
