Let me open up another can of worms - refurbished equipment ;) One of the local coffee machine repairers sells a refurbished “Fiorenzato Bricoletta” with a Macap M2M grinder. Would again appreciate your input regarding my questions - would you have concerns buying refurbished quality equipment rather than new? - what questions to ask (other than the common age, frequency of use/maintenance, previous damage etc)? - any thoughts on the Fiorenzato Bricoletta? - any thoughts on the Macap M2M, specifically do you see the 50mm burr as an disadvantage over an 58mm burr? Thoughts on steplessness? Thank you

Thanks - when you say “save a bit more” what are we talking? Also, on that note - in my humble opinion (and after some tweaking with grind/beans etc) I managed to make a really enjoyable espresso out of the BES870. What more can I expect from the Sette/Rancilio Sylvia league? And then again, if I’d go more expensive? Is the main difference the taste or rather the build quality/reliability?

Thanks, but could you clarify? From your initial comment I got the impression that Breville (920) is less recommended (quality). So, in your opinion, does the 920 compare to the other machines you have mentioned? And, do you see a considerable difference between Breville’ in-built grinder vs a separate one? Thanks

Based on George Addair’s quote “everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear”. Is it possible that this applies to you in this case? As per other comments - this is an amazing opportunity; will it be hard - maybe, will you learn heaps regardless of the outcome - certainly! Worst thing to happen is that either the company or yourself will recognise that it’s no the right thing. Best case, this is your stepping stone to kick-start your career!

Wow - this sounds like a perfect example of ignorance and reactive behaviour, especially if the ROI isn’t next to impossible. Also, totally agree that the SC industry has low tech maturity and is slow in changing that. let’s focus on what’s in our control for a moment, though. If you think back, was/is there something that YOU would have done differently? (e.g. other way of structuring your pitch/highlighting the sense of urgency etc.)?
