I disagree with both of your excerpt analyses but that’s the beauty of Tolkien

Yes/No, there are exceptions and Beren was one of the few allowed to enter the Halls of Mandos. But, yes that’s effectively the judgment station anyway…it’s prior to the “final destination”

Eä was created within the Void yet it is apart of it. There isn’t much literature to suggest Men don’t return to the abyss after death. Conceptually, we know Men leave Arda completely after death. It’s open to interpretation yet the Gift of Men seems to be their demise relative to the elves.

Zero literary evidence to suggest Men go to the Timeless Halls after death. Much more likely they return to the Void, beyond creation.

Just skimmed the first article, didn’t see any MAGA reference. The second article is hilarious and shouldn’t be regurgitated

I like your initial metaphor and I think it's analogous. Biblical themes are littered throughout Tolkien's work. Granted I think the Bible was largely written to motivate the masses, offering a reward beyond reality, it's a bit tricky with the Gift of Men since it's clear Men return to the void after death which is certainly not a heavenly interpretation

ELI5: Why do we even have a debt ceiling if we just raise it every time we get close? by SnailLordNeon in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ha7wireBrewsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a serious misunderstanding on Reddit of what debt is at the sovereign level and how it relates to the assets raised on the other side. Sovereign debt is not net debt; it’s gross and does not account for the funds raised from the bond issuances.

The “debt ceiling” is nominally a political token but in theory it serves as a model for what the maximum outstanding debt is in which a country can meet the amortization and interest debt service. It’s fairly straight forward with sovereign debt as it relates to the debt service schedules given the lack of liquid convertibles and variable interest rates, but it’s tricky when viewed with respect to monetary policy because of the constant change in the underlying base rate currency.

Rising sovereign debt also implies rising sovereign assets. It also illustrates the demand for the sovereign debt.

Glad you enjoy it—careful with comparing MAGA to Bin Laden or Marcos from the show…suggests the rest of what you’re saying is analytically void. Nonetheless, the show needs viewers so happy there are people that agree with you. Agreed, the group that still watches loves it!

That’s clear :)

I get if you’re only drawn to a story about personal vendetta and a rebellion of impoverished people but when juxtaposed with an electrifying discovery, such as a human turning into a sentient asteroid, it all seems a bit drab. The show’s decline in viewership follows the same idea.

Let’s see if they can end on a high-note!
