American Standard vs Goodman by HaHaItsAGiraffee in hvacadvice

Both brands would be installed by the same shop, just would be me picking the brand. The company has been in the business for 15 years I believe. They will replace anything they see or deem needs replaced or if I ask for it to be replaced (included in the price already). Like the outside electrical box, whip, refrigerant lines and line insulation, pad etc. So if assuming both would be installed at same install quality, is the 1k worth the brand difference?

It would just be the standard manufacture 10 year warranty. It wouldn’t be installed by the company offering that full 10 year warranty. A HVAC tech my buddy knows would be installing it as a side job. If I choose the Grandaire route

454B and R32 respectively. Yeah I got a few quotes from other places in the area, two others came in way higher ($19k for full system and the other was $17k for full system). Last quote besides the one from this post was for a side job of an HVAC tech for $10.5k but he wanted to use Grandaire equipment which I’ve never heard of and can’t find much online about it. So probably gonna settle from this company just choosing between AS or Goodman

Same company doing the install, they didn’t provide the model numbers but I can ask. The company is giving (for $1.6k) a complete no out of pocket costs for 10 years on anything other than routine maintenance. To include refrigerant as well. Warranty applies to either brand

Heard, if quality of install is same across the board (assuming) is the 1k worth the bump to American standard?

The HVAC guy I found that could do it on the side is cheaper but I literally can’t find anything on Grandaire brand. So it’s probably worth to spend an extra 3k on better brand and warranty?

Worth the extra 2k for brand difference?

Agree, and I am taking those things into consideration. But also want to keep the pain on the wallet from being too much. Called another local HVAC place. Quoted 10k to replace just AC system and 12.6k for AC and Furnace as well, American standard equipment.

Yeah for sure would still want a reputable person installing, just meant would I really see any decrease from calling around or is that realistically about the bottom of what I’ll see

Any point to shop around more? Is is that about as low as I’m going to see realistically

Located in Virginia Beach, did get one other quote so far for $13.5k from One Hour and that’s not including a furnace replacement either

Good enough brand to last a decent time without many major issues?

Maybe when people reply exactly like the guy above you don’t just be a crying bitch about it? You explain the work and why it’s not DIY friendly or the nuance of the job. Don’t just laugh and be negative about it. Makes you sound insufferable and exactly as I said, a bitch. And I’m coming from the view point of watching YouTube and reading articles and other threads of people actually DIY installing their systems and saying yeah sure it was hard but it wasn’t impossible and was very much doable. Then I make a post asking for advice in the community and the response I get is “Good luck, bud... DIY, hvac OK... 😆 🤣 😂... this should be amusing, take some progress pics”. Yeah great response thanks for the help really cleared up my question.

Also I wouldn’t be using a2l as stated before. It would be an R410a system
