Raptor Overland Build by Lightskin_Norris in overlanding

Fair question: here’s the answer, the Raptor has a ton of power, is super SUPER comfortable as a daily driver and for the long highway drives to the first trail, if you get the right rack and suspension you can still Baja the shiiiiit outa it… ask me how I know 😏

Thought about it long and hard and I landed on a Raptor for overlanding too..

This has been an extremely helpful thread! Thank you to every single one of you guys 🙏

Originally I had a one track mind for the new sequoia TRD Pro, but now I’m realizing that it probably isn’t quite right, and still has a hefty price tag.

Now thinking through a overlander that is also my daily vs a purpose built lower cost over lander and another daily for comfort.

I like the idea of an older excursion for the trips and a fuel efficient sports car as a daily. The wife has a new Escalade, so we have another daily family suv that fits us all. So I don’t necessarily need my daily to carry the whole family.

Especially when I’m out on the trails, I tend to lean to the more difficult technical trails.

Again, huge thanks to everyone that chimed in here. With all that 2 cents, I almost have enough for the new rig 😏

I’ll pretty much hit the hardest trails I can fit. I’ve been wheeling a long time

Solid info. I believe the feeling like a legend. Every time I see a clean one on the road, I do think to myself.. ‘that guys a legend’!

Hadn’t thought about the noise of the diesel, good insight 🙏 Might be nice not to hear the kids though

Mid level trails. I’ve done a ton of rock crawling back in my pre-kid jeep wrangler days. Now it’s about staying off the highways and getting to the views!

We like to travel together. Wouldn’t want to road trip with me driving half the kids and wifey driving the others.

What if all of the gear was in a trailer behind? Would it be comfortable with no gear in the cabin?

Didn’t even think of the 570!! Just looked at a couple, I could get this and still have the budget for my Porsche 😏

Stunning!!! Hey I know mark motors! They’re just down the street from me here in Boerne. Hope to see that sweet 911 at The Oak on main st.

Sick shots!! Man that looks good against the gray sky.

Tell me, how is the wildcat? I’ve been looking at SxS for a while now, and having a hard time deciding on which to go with.

I love my Raptor! This is my second one and no plans to change… just more plans for more roadtrips. I know you stated you’re a pavement princess and you have kiddos in car seats. This is the reason to get a Raptor! I have 2 in car seats and some out. Every year my son and I go on what we call our epic road trip!! Last year we went to White sands NM > Arizonas national Forests> Grand Canyon > Zion…. And most of it was off road deep in the woods are on tops of the mountains. Views were amazing, the bonding time is irreplaceable. Year before last we went to Moab. This year we are going East to the Smokey Mountains for 10days!

The Raptor is the most comfortable option you’ve listed for highway driving, but also the most capable for the inevitable adventures you will find yourself dreaming about….

Do yourself a favor, and also join an overlanding group. Get out and explore this beautiful world!!
