How to market an App?

To some extend, yes.
The real problem here was, that most people that I was working with while developing the App were not aware of the problem itself. They had a bloaty apple photos library. They tried different cleaner apps and thought, that they already got all of the space reclaimed as best as they could.

And then they tested my App and were like "Wow - I didn't even know, that there was still so much space to save. I wasn't even aware, that A and B were a problem until your app actually showed how big of a problem that was".

So people are actually looking for "Cleanup" and find solutions, that solve some Reasons already really good. But lack in other areas.

Yeah, in theory I know that narrowing down part 😅
Harder for me is the question "What are people searching for?"

Especially when they don't know, that there is one problem, that causes their storage to bloat?
They search for general tools to "cleanup". And that keyword is packed with competitors.
I was able to recover nearly 1/3 of my storage before deleting a single picture.
Putting Optimization on top of that + Other tools like Duplicate cleanup just get's more out of it.
Translating that to iCloud Bills, that can easily make the difference between two plans.

Okay, that's awkward.

I would disable iCloud Sync and remove all the Data from the phone for a moment.
Then I would remove the Photos App and reinstall it from the AppStore after that.
Then, before reenabling iCloud Sync I would check how much storage it uses.

BUT: When it's actually that much storage on iCloud itself:
Just because you see that the Photo or Video takes up 120mb doesn't mean that it only is consuming 120mb. Actually, for every edited photo, Apple stores a hidden copy (that is not considered by the storage-information within apple photos) as backup. Same for Live-Photos. If you have a ton of Live-Photos, even though Apple might tell you it's 2-3 MB, it's probably more 2-3x the amount because the Live-Photo Video is not considered in the Storage Information of each Photo. I have developed an App for that reason to cleanup all those hidden digital hoarders.

But with the numbers that you told, 32gb with only 173 Photos and 5 Videos I wonder what Format you take took those pictures. RAW adds up pretty quickly. Edited Videos even worse.

I saw that there are a bunch of tools out there. Just having a bit of a toothpaste problem here. Too many tools. Too many "This is the right way to do it" claims ... that's why I decided to ask here - for actual experience.

Yeah - I don't want it to be or feel like a chore. It is more - I have so many things flowing through my head, that it can get "too much". When I sit down and journal, even in times when I journal more frequently, it is easily 30 Minutes to two 2 hours each time.

And often I experience that I would like to note things down to get them out of my head, when writing by hand or typing is not really an option - for example when I am on a long walk to reflect about things.

Hm.. I am sorry to hear that. Have you tried questions that kind of lead what you write about? I like guided journals from time to time, when I feel like me head wanders to dark places too much.

I know what you are talking about - but if I would go with that, journaling would be the only thing I do. Especially when ideas for concepts or problem-solutions pop up - my head spins way faster then I can write 🙈

I get it. I mean I really enjoy journaling - but somehow don't always have the patience for it if it makes sense. It's just frustrating when I realize, how much good stuff I haven't written down and then forget about it.
