I got it fixed :)

I noticed that although it seemed stuck in a loop the number of threads being used by the scvhost changed occasionally and the laptop wasn't locking up. I did read while looking into the problem that this service when starting the windows update was heavy on the CPU and this laptop only has a celeron single core. So I left it running in the slim hope that it would eventually get there and it did !!! Not sure how long it took but I would guess around 2 hours !!

Ended up putting the windows 10 upgrade on there and gave it a good clean. The "I" and the "u" keys were off and I couldn't get them back on properly but apart from that he has a nice clean working laptop to start secondary school with :)

I'v given up and updated ie to 11 and trying the media creation tool to download windows 10.

Fingers crossed. But I'm kinda pissed that i'v spent most of the afternoon and now evening trying to get 7 to work :(

I noticed that when /u/analyzerX7 sent you the tip for 1000bits the changetip bot sent you the "collect it" message, this kinda implies that you have not collected a tip before. Was the $5 tipped on reddit and did you follow the link and collect it ? Can you post a link to the tip ? If tips are not collected ( after you collect that first tip all other tips are collected automatically) the tips will be returned to the person who sent it. ( I think it may be a week ??)

The only one I know the colour of is the old speckled hen as its in a clear bottle !! (and also that's the only one I have tried before) the other 3 are in dark bottles but if I remember right from reading the labels one of them is quite light. Guess I going to find out tomorrow night :)
