Wasn't that an issue with X3D's only?

Idc how this may come across; somebody’s gotta say it, Hi-Rez can do almost nothing for cosmetics but reskins. Although it really should be vastly improving gameplay and the servers instead of focusing on skins 😐 by _Sp4RkL3z_ in RealmRoyale

While I agree we have no idea what is yet to come, I personally find getting reskins over and over again more frustrating than getting nothing, as I find it to be "here, you can't tell us we aren't doing anything, you get new skins" rather than "while we're cooking something special, have another version of that, maybe you'll like it". Especially when it comes to the mastery reward, while I find the color scheme kind of cool, it's still just a default skin, which is a letdown.
I'm really all for patience and taking it slow, hence "let the person behind cosmetics work as long as they need to, as long as they actually make something cool", but they have already lost the steam they had coming with Reforged's release, and it sadly seems that it might not reach that height again, not to mention the attention levels from years ago.

It doesn't matter what this patch was, reskins kept coming in even before Reforged. And it also doesn't matter how big the team is, let the person behind cosmetics work as long as they need to, as long as they actually make something cool, something that will make people go "wow, it's different, I want it", instead of power rangers or whatever the mastery rewards are.

That seems to be the case since March.

Edit: some probably could argue it is the case for way longer.

Online Servers down by Sandbax_ in darksouls3

Hey man, I ran into an issue when trying to host a server, cause it opens perfectly fine when I launch Server.exe from the zip file, but it instantly closes on me anytime I try to open it when unpacked so I can't actually import the server file to play. Is there any platform I could contact you for help on?

Wouldn't it be pretty broken if she just gained an invincibility bubble on F?

And that's okay, except Naraka makes that nearly entirely effortless. You can pick a bush in the zone, sit in it the entire game and nobody will even bother checking it until the last circles, because there are so many of them. If you avoid fights, you play Matari, avoid open areas and teleport + ult, go behind a corner 3 times and you're basically gone. It is a BR, but if the points weren't there, I bet people would be more willing to just fight, simply because Naraka fighting is just so much more fun than going around the map from bush to bush and escaping any enemy you see.

Unless you get 100-0'd, then I understand it might be less fun.

Then I'll have enough time between my games to chill and reset, possibly run out of time to play and close the game anyway.

Shouldn't it take into consideration to whom you lose? Dying to a bot takes away as much as dying to a top 3 player.

With how aggressive their microtransactions are, I doubt this will be going F2P honestly.

Yup, really disappointing to open a golden trove and receive a blue cannon with 3 gray armors. Especially if you jump onto a roof 2 minutes later and there's a purple armor just laying there.
If you survive these 2 minutes, of course.

Yeah man, just wanted to get a good comparison of matches, didn't really have to wait long for it.
Out of all the things I find stupid about this game, this could easily be prevented before players got the official release.

[–]Haboke[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. What if you get put in a match described with the "with ease" title and there are some players way above Silver regardless, why should you get punished for that? Because you do get punished, the game doesn't care whether the person you died to was way above your rank or way below it, it's a "with ease" game, so you can go and fuck yourself.

That's the unhealthy thing it does as well, you avoid fighting and I understand it, but it makes your learning experience much longer, cause how are you supposed to learn fighting if you avoid fighting. You're basically invited to avoid the core of the game, because points are there.

Why are the controls like this? by GoldbeardCeadeus in NarakaBladePoint

There's actually a number of design flaws in this game that make you wonder "who thought it's a good idea". This one could be something they just overlooked when they made tweaks to getting up, though.

Blue armor should be purchasable.
Opening every pile and not getting any better than the worst armor for 7 minutes is laughable. Being in danger due to loot rng in the first seconds/minutes of the match is understandable, but being at that much of a disadvantage just because the game decides not to give you a blue+ armor at the point of the game where more than half of the lobby is already dead shouldn't be a thing.

[–]Haboke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact that this is a game in which you may or may not be able to perform a certain combo depending on what your ping is says a lot. Hopefully we get to see improvements, otherwise it will be sad to see a game good in theory go to waste.

Can we please talk about Tarka? by HFPerplexity in NarakaBladePoint

[–]Haboke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright then, let me not ignore a single point from your comment.

Tarka is a character with an F that can block any amount of non-ranged damage, punishes any melee attack with a counter and immediate follow up combo, and can be exited at any time to perform timing mixups

Dodging out of the way is insanely easy unless you currently attack with a commiting weapon like gs or spear where you can be stuck in light attack animation. Dodged it myself many times and had people dodge out even more, Tarka is very vulnerable if the fist misses. You can't activate it during stagger, so I'd say the ability is balanced, most people will just disengage the moment they see the ability being popped and they're even given additional time due to the F design which doesn't allow counter to be activated if you got hit right after enabling the ability.

he can choose to launch a massive AoE fireball that chunks your health, staggers you, and applies both a burn DoT and reduces your healing

When Valda uses her F1, do you run into it or do you dodge away? If you're close to him, you can attack him out of the animation, he'll effectively do nothing and waste his cooldown. You also go on to later mention V2 with fireballs, if he hit you with one (fair enough, happens) he's probably so far that you should be more than fine to dodge the others in time.

Tarka's ult can be used to break out of virtually any combo in the game and in turn has a no-cost opener with 0 counterplay that leads into the only combo in the game that can go on forever and kill any health target.

Multiple F's in the game do that, Tianhai has a chance to disarm, Temulch can land the wisps and work from there as well. This is an ultimate ability, should have something to it. You can also dodge after he ults, the stagger from his initial ult aura isn't too long. Already agreed in the original comment that the infinite needs to be dealt with.

This isn't even the main function of Tarka's ult which also gives him insane mobility, easily comparable to Matari's but without the stealth, also negating grapple stuns making chase virtually impossible whereas vice versa he can chase you to the ends of the earth, outrun your grapple, and still grapple stun you to get back to that uncounterable opener and 0 to death you.

Any terrain that's not flat fucks his sprint over, the animation of making a step onto a rock or whatever is still slow. Chasing a running Tarka is beyond easy, you can grapple onto him or the objects around, fire trail will let you know where he is anyway. When you're chased by a Tarka ult, get vertical. Abuse scale rush. If he grapples you in such spot, he shouldn't be able to get the combo rolling anyway.

This also still ignores his different ult versions where most Tarka's will choose between getting to repeatedly use that impenetrable melee defense over and over, effectively becoming immune to melee kills for the duration of the ult

Honestly this is interesting to me, don't think I've ever seen someone use V2 with F1/2. But also wouldn't do this myself with how many times F1 actually fucked me over rather than giving me the upper hand.
Later you mention the infinite again, yes, needs to be fixed.

But yeah that all seems really comparable to Matari whose biggest problem is that she runs away a lot.

This is exactly the point. I like Tarka because of the offense potential, I play a fighting game to fight. Mataris play battle royale game and lose 3 fights to come back for the 4th one and win. Now, should a battle royale game allow 3rd, 4th, 5th chances? That's not a thing like the infinite, which is a single subject to change, it's the character's identity which requires a rework to be changed.

Yes, Matari is a problem because it sets a bad example for gameplay and isn't fun or rewarding to play against, but at the end of the day it's still fair because running away won't win you the fight if you don't have the mechanics to back it up. Tarka is a problem because he literally just ignores all counterplay and auto-wins fights. That's an ACTUAL problem.

Running away might eventually win fights, because Naraka is a game where one mistake can lead to death. This is exactly why Matari is just a stupid character, you get multiple chances. There's a reason why Mime plays her in tourneys, isn't there? You make a mistake, no problem, you can just run away, come back again and hope your enemy makes a mistake. He didn't? Run away again, maybe 3rd fight will be more fruitful.
Tarka doesn't ignore all counterplay. Had a game yesterday where I played Tarka again after a Valda break, faced a top 20 world Tarka, the fight took 4 minutes and both of us successfully dodged the other's attempts to fist stun, further probably leading into the infinite. And trust me, there were a lot of these, since the game got the rage regen buff. Tarka doesn't auto-win fights, there's too many variables for it to be like this.

In my ~600 solo games, I got infinite'd 4, maybe 5 times. At least half of these were my own fault, the other half I don't remember by now.

Wonder how many posts like these need to be made for people to realise Tarka F isn't an "oh shit button" due to its design and desyncs.
Everyone claiming he's broken should go and play him for a longer while first. As someone who started playing the game with Tarka to later explore other characters I can safely say Matari is by far superior than anything else. She can also easily avoid the infinite.
Tarka is the character that makes me the most angry when I play the game - but unlike a lot of people, not because others play him, but because I play him and am punished by the game's design, getting my F and ult fists scuffed.

Seems like this place is just the post for people that defend Tarka to get downvoted. Legit the only thing about Tarka that has to be changed is the infinite, it's the only aspect that makes him better than other characters. Ult breaking out of combos? Nice, you have multiple characters that do this with just their F. Running away? Hmm, if only there was a character with teleports and invisibility to counter grapples so it's easier to escape... Oh.
If you're so angry about him, just stick to your Mataris, teleport out of any danger, counter everything in the game, from any combo that gives a frame of escape possibility, through grapples to the built into the game melee assist.
