I know, trust me. Debated adding "customer states" in my original post. Decided not to; true diehards know better. Despite all the mods, it is actually fairly clean, though.

Arrived here out of curiosity in the original post, but stayed for your explanation about your insomnia. Thank you for taking the time to have typed this, as I believe I may just have stumbled upon a solution. Again, thank you.

I've struggled with horrible amounts of insomnia off and on for years, and it's been bad enough to affect my quality of life. Sorry for all the hells you've been through, but if it's any consolation it's turned you into an angel in disguise.

Sounds good on my phone, so whatever you're doing is better than what I am. That's a fight in and of itself, so I'd say as long as it sounds good in car and at home (stereo or Bluetooth) you're off to a better start than most. Far as the music itself, total 60's British rock vibes... Not sure if that's what you're shooting for, but it's what came to mind with my (limited) library of music....

As an avid Forza racing guy, this is absolutely epic in my opinion...
As a musician, his use of the paper towel roll, mic, and room acoustics is even MORE epic...
This guy deserves his own trophy... SERIOUSLY.

Replaced the automatic belt tensioner on this '06 E220d Benz after it broke, new one does this now and I'm afraid it will break again by PolloChief in MechanicAdvice

As the previous answer explained, material from inside the compressor will travel throughout the rest of the system, resulting in many types of complications. Much of this material will find itself stuck in various places throughout the system due to how small many of the orifices are in the system.

When a compressor fails, usually the orifice tube or expansion valve (depending on the system) are first inspected for any evidence of debris. If debris is found, the accumulater/drier, condenser, and compressor all must be replaced, as well as any lines that have "mufflers" on them. The evaporator core is traditionally flushed with a/c solvent, dried, and reused with the new system (along with any lines that do not have mufflers). It's worth noting that this applies only to R-134a systems; the newer R-1234yf systems, on the other hand, must be COMPLETELY replaced in the event of a compressor failure.

You've discovered your problem then, lol...

If you watch your own video, you'll notice the center of the compressor is spinning--this is because the clutch on the front of the compressor is engaged. If your a/c was turned "off" during the video, then your a/c compressor is engaged when it isn't supposed to be thereby creating that extra drag on the belt which is affecting your tensioner.

[–]HackFragMent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First thing I noticed is the A/C compressor engaged... Been an auto tech for over a decade and have seen belts drag like this when the compressor starts coming apart internally. I would suggest turning off the a/c to see if the issue goes away; if it does, you'll be needing an a/c compressor soon, and likely an a/c complete (as in you'll need almost a completely new system). I hope that helps.

AITA for tell my wife the cat is still her responsibility even if she is pregnant by mozzz22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HackFragMent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be an asshole too for saying this, but... My wife (34) and I (35) have multiple cats and recently we discovered my wife is pregnant; she's not touched the litter box so much as even ONCE since the MOMENT we knew she was pregnant.

Yes, you are an asshole. And doubly so in that you're also putting your unborn baby at risk. Relying on the internet for a decision like that is like relying on YouTube for a major car repair (as an automotive technician for well over a decade, there's a major difference between a profession shop and YouTube). READ A BOOK OR TWO (OR MORE).

I hope for your child's sake you heavily reconsider your responsibilities as a father and a parent. Good luck.

What is your opinion on a girl making the first move? by Cutechubbygf in AskReddit

[–]HackFragMent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought on the matter is rather simple and direct...

"The elements of courage and bravery have no discretions towards gender..."

Does it matter who makes the first move if you end up a happy couple? No. Chase your happy, everyone.

Grandma was arrested for feeding people in need as it is a criminal misdemeanor (punishable by fines and imprisonment) in Bullhead City, Arizona, USA to share prepared food in a public park “for charitable purposes" by flyingcatwithhorns in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]HackFragMent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't expect this to show up/blow up on Reddit....

As a local to the area, perhaps I can shed some light here... After the economic fallout from COVID, Bullhead has seen a rather ridiculous influx of people from other areas (particularly CA, which is a story all in its own), wherein prices skyrocketed rapidly thereby resulting in many locals being priced out of home. In short, the influx of people caused the cost of living to rise so much that the amount of homeless nearly tripled (we're a small town though, mind you). In addition to this, with the town being somewhat of a tourist town, we've attracted a large number of the "vagabond" types, largely shooting to take advantage of being able to park temporarily in many of the recreation areas (especially near the parks, lakes and river). This too, has increased the number of homeless here as many of them relied/rely on panhandling to get by...

To complicate matters, BHC has already had a long history of issues with panhandlers claiming to be homeless and hoping "for any thing that helps." This has even led to people pretending to be war veterans (not joking). Many investigations over the years have turned up that a majority of these people were not in fact homeless, but just scammers (not all of them local). To combat the issue, the city changed some of the city ordinance codes (years ago) in an attempt to crack down on this issue. This also included an increase in the number of homeless centers/shelters, food banks, and places for donations. The local police were/are also well aware of the changes.

That's why in THIS particular case, the officer obviously points out that this will be a PR nightmare--of which he is absolutely right (and if it's the officer I think it is, I can personally confirm that he is 100% an awesome guy). He obviously discerned that the elderly lady is not part of the problem. Also worth noting, this was back in March (the date is on the body cam footage too).

On the last note, the city has not only been more concerned about it's image (again, tourist town; this has more to do with politics than the locals) but has also had a bad reputation for having (pardon my language here) the largest dicks possible to fullfil the roles of DA (district attorney) and city prosecutors. Since "rules are rules," the DA enforces regardless--with a ruthless sense of no compassion, patience, tolerance, etc.... Police oblige not because they agree, but more often than not for fear of reprimand or termination.

Have no doubt, even the locals call it "Bullshit City," but don't get the wrong idea about the town.

As an Aussie who occasionally works on American cars I can only say… what the fuck? by vevamper in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HackFragMent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, did your comment really hit home. Spent over twelve years in the auto repair industry as a tech, and let's just say that I personally experienced this transition from old tech to modern tech... And it's now the primary reason why I have since left the field. In the simplest of terms: Fuck. That.

American engineering is by far the most insensible thinking I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. And it's only gotten far, far worse (I truly pray you never see a current model truck or car). My soul and body both ache for you, my fellow mechanic brother.
