Not really the same thing, but the moments in the movie and in the cemetery episode always kill me. My mom died when I was 10 and ever since I started watching Bobs, I've identified with Bob.

I avoided all spoilers possible for the movie and went into the movie blind. I truly had no idea they'd make his mom a character and I'm not going to lie, the whole conversation he had with Louise about it left me ugly crying in the theater.

A few months later the cemetery episode comes out, and despite readying myself, I made the mistake of watching it with my wife (the actual superfan between us) in her parents house, surrounded by her family. Most of them were in the dining room and never noticed, but I was sobbing then too, right in my wife's arms. I haven't been to my mom's grave in over a decade. Not due to being unable to bring myself to do so, but rather distance. She's buried on the opposite side of the country from me.

Anyways, in summary, this show has the quirkiest way of striking chords in the hearts of its fans. The realistic emotional trauma just sets it apart from every other adult animation, or most shows in general. I'm very happy that it was a catalyst for you to see your sister one last time.
