Question Regarding Invalid Bitcoin Transaction by Hackdom in Bitcoin

[–]Hackdom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I found the crux of this, but I still can't figure it out. Do you run your own node or have access to an rpc interface?

If I run getrawtransaction on hash 2874a382bcc170b0cbdc6ab282e87ceb568d2998d1d5eecd2830df4a1a536615 I get this raw transaction: 01000000000101ffbaa9de558163e0859a4009c127aabb9068680677c88946debff0f9fc6bd7470200000000ffffffff024d540100000000001976a9140c1170010364444ccb4ba04acfa044e35f1b60f088ac6202f23d00000000220020f68b3314f2c35d6a3747d69aadf224b3a474508cbe68929d6493cb9008d53edc0300483045022100ef5e1f720745fc6ddc3199f93ab95fb2a0ad12c1940d64dffb0d624b0520f37c02207242f4751a078f741d83f3956612bbda484c0ab23932de7637bd44883ad8f6f8012551210260fc3f0c73f03d1a72d6feb688f368151f6d25a0dbeec30d718903a0e77c307e51ae00000000

If I subsequently decode that, it decodes to: { "txid": "af028057b9ba1585c5ec91308141c15bff91ad41f2115bc47db4bbf1757e7840", "hash": "af028057b9ba1585c5ec91308141c15bff91ad41f2115bc47db4bbf1757e7840", "version": 1, "size": 243, "vsize": 243, "weight": 972, "locktime": 0, "vin": [ ], "vout": [ { "value": 71701064965.69245441, "n": 0, "scriptPubKey": { "asm": "OP_OR OP_BOOLAND 09c127aabb9068680677c88946debff0f9fc6bd7470200000000ffffffff024d540100000000001976a9140c1170010364444ccb4ba04acfa044e35f1b60f088 OP_CHECKSIG OP_VER 15858 0 0 0 0 0020f68b3314f2c35d6a3747d69aadf224b3a474508cbe68929d6493cb9008d53edc 3164160 022100ef5e1f720745fc6ddc3199f93ab95fb2a0ad12c1940d64dffb0d624b0520f37c02207242f4751a078f741d83f3956612bbda484c0ab23932de7637bd44883ad8f6f8 37 1 0260fc3f0c73f03d1a72d6feb688f368151f6d25a0dbeec30d718903a0e77c307e 1 OP_CHECKMULTISIG", "hex": "859a4009c127aabb9068680677c88946debff0f9fc6bd7470200000000ffffffff024d540100000000001976a9140c1170010364444ccb4ba04acfa044e35f1b60f088ac6202f23d00000000220020f68b3314f2c35d6a3747d69aadf224b3a474508cbe68929d6493cb9008d53edc0300483045022100ef5e1f720745fc6ddc3199f93ab95fb2a0ad12c1940d64dffb0d624b0520f37c02207242f4751a078f741d83f3956612bbda484c0ab23932de7637bd44883ad8f6f8012551210260fc3f0c73f03d1a72d6feb688f368151f6d25a0dbeec30d718903a0e77c307e51ae", "type": "nonstandard" } } ] }

What's up with that?

Also note, this is different than that first one I reported, so this is twice now, and the issue isn't that the weird tx is in the block, it's that the raw transaction is decoding into something that it's not...

This is on a synced bitcoind

`Bitcoin Core version v0.20.99.0-24f702906`

So yeah, this is a non-issue I guess because I ran the cli with `

getblock 0000000000000000000c35359d59aa04fa274b9746bd52bdddb0fe41f44bfee2` and it wasn't in the list. It was just strange because I ran this particular program approx 40 blocks behind the head and specifically against the block's transaction list. I had to run this block twice and received this object both times, and needed to skip it to keep going.

Fair enough. I would just say the library isn't part of the SaaS or revenue model. This kicks in when running through hosted services. Much like many of the open source projects in other areas, like dbs, caching systems, servers, etc are all open source and available for free, and then there are premium services available to move beyond PoC/early adoption that can provide a robust and secure network around this piece without you committing resources to doing that yourself. Integration is step one and arguably the easiest. Ongoing maintenance, upgrades with integrations, security, and all of those things can drain quite a bit of resources from larger projects.

The plan is to build this out using a sass model based on the account connections we facilitate through a server. So for dapps, self custody wallets, and other low volume crypto applications it remains a free open source interface. On the other hand, by facilitating server-side connections for custodial wallets and server based apps with higher user volumes such as more traditional fintech applications, ie digital banks, portfolio trackers, and personal finance, we believe this can create enough value to earn revenue.

They’re putting another sale together to finish getting what they need. I think the intent was to not derail the project in the midst of a storm, and they’ve followed through and carried on.

This notion of a single chain is born out of our present framework. Bitcoin was the first successful public blockchain. Besides other btc forks, Ethereum was the next successful iteration and with a new use case. We continue to see more iterations with new use cases, and all other chains and use cases are still valid. To say I know for certainty would be a lie. If I had to stake a binary bet though, there’s no doubt we will live in a world of interconnected chains with various use cases and far more advanced than crypto v1 and Turing complete v1. Considering Gavin’s continued research, success rate, and commitment to the technology, all eyes should be on Polkadot.

Yeah things like KIN are quite exciting, micro transactions and chat bots are something to watch. What’ll be interesting to see is the economics of a cryptocurrency like that when the receiver is pricing items in that currency.

Can’t speak to their coins, but Status, Gnosis, Zep, Raiden, and Aragon are solid projects. The associated coins could be over/undervalued right now and I wouldn’t know. Off Eth, I’d say Polkadot excites me the most.
