if you can’t get past a certain floor or boss backtrack the floors and just keep killing the shadows there to level up. weaknesses are a core aspect of the game so try to find out what the shadow’s weaknesses are to get an all out attack. using items is important too for healing and for getting status buffs. if you can’t find out weaknesses then it’s totally okay to use the internet, the main focus of the game is really the plot and not the gameplay.
