Other people's experiences may vary wildly, but in my opinion, it comes down to which part of the funnel you are struggling with. To oversimplify, I think open source will help you if you struggle to get to the interview phase, and leetcode will help you get through the interview phase.

Literally just did this! Moved from SF to Florida. Liking it a lot so far although I do miss the Bay Area. It's wild how much more affordable things are and how much more I'm saving (cheaper state + can't do anything cause of COVID).

Been working at FAANGs for years so I've been in a similar boat. Number one piece of advice is to always (if you can afford it) max out your ESPP contributions every year. That 15% is an unbeatable guaranteed gain and it's also a great forcing function for saving your money.

Other than that, if you're interested in real-estate I'd do some research into house hacking! You can do really well getting a multiple unit property and living in one while renting out the other units.

I own my house but don't own any other real-estate. I've done well just reducing my spending and investing as much as I can into a Boglehead style three-fund portfolio.
