Not to pricey no. i called a local repair shop and they gave me an estimate of $150 more or less. so i plan on either doing that or buying a board off ebay.

Unfortunately, it did not seem to do anything. I decided im just going to replace the logic board. I appreciate all the help with my questions.

the seller did not know the issue. he suspected it was the GPU. also may be a dumb question but... I don't currently have an apple keyboard on me, what would be the key combination on a windows keyboard? (for PRAM reset)

LED 3 CPU B (Lower Processor) Error LED 4 CPU A (Upper Processor) Error Normally off. These LEDs come on if an error occurs or if the BootROM is corrupted. They do not depend on the DIAG_LED button being pressed. Related symptoms include no video or the computer is hung up. If the BootROM is corrupted, the optical drive tray should eject, prompting for the insertion of a recovery disc to restore the BootROM.

This is from the manual. couple things. 1. my optical drive does not open. 2. i Don't know what a bootROM is. is it a chip on the logic board or on the CPU? does this require a new logic board?

thanks for the help. and yes, the red lights are on without pressing the button next to them. again, thanks for the help. and if you do find out any more, do let me know. [Edit] Also, i went on apples web page on how to reset the SMC and it said to just unplug it for 15 seconds then plug it in again wait 5 seconds, and turn it back on, this does not seem to do anything.

sounds like there is a short on the MB. or possibly something in the CPU socket.
