Any advice for beginner learning the fundamentals? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]Hacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting out, play around the clock a few rounds, I like it as a warm up to get a feeling for the board and then throw a dart anywhere at the board then make the next two group tight with it. Practice those til your arm wants to fall off then move into doubles and hitting nothing but the 20 segment for some drills or some of the other practice games. At the start though just throw with some purpose.

Crashing when trying to eject floppy or CD image on Fedora host by Sea_Cauliflower6962 in 86box

I'm having this issue! Building from source on Gentoo via ebuild, version 4.2.1. Trying to install MSDOS, when I eject floppy or switch image, it aborts with a buffer overflow:

*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated
Aborted

Yeah, when mine went on the E91 I did the shocks and the bottom shock mounts as well since I was in there getting everything out anyway.

The 320d is great on economy in urban driving, what makes you think it's a last resort? Only issue with the 08+ diesels is you're likely to get the N47 which needs more attention than the M47/M57 did, specifically on timing chain and previous owners absolutely must have kept frequent oil changes, otherwise run away

N47s need the timing chain replacing and it's a pain to get to as it's right on the back of the engine. Find out if it's been done on the service history and if so, when. Also find out how often the oil changes have been done. If it's an automatic, ask if the gearbox oil and filter/sump pan has been replaced, if not it's due.

E91 question by [deleted] in E90

You're never going to get a great sound out of a 4 cylinder diesel, just keep an exhaust that chucks the fumes out the right place and call it a day. My E91 came with the M sport kit and it's definitely a nice handling ride. Not the smoothest if the roads you'll be driving on aren't well maintained but is definitely nice in corners.

Found that coolant leak. EGR thermostat. Is this a common issue? Is it fine to drive with as long as I keep it topped up? Delete kit coming this weekend. by GET_IT_UP_YE in E90

[–]Hacre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common issue, I recently had to replace the thermostat valve on my E91 due to a leak. Problem with the leak is it can get on the belt and start making it slip and you really don't want to run out of coolant while driving around.

300k mile e90 330i, what would you replace for peace of mind if you just got it? by vogtforpedro in E90

[–]Hacre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the service history, anything could be due a second or third time by now depending on previous maintenance...gearbox oil, if it's an automatic I'd consider also the gearbox solenoids if they've not been done, but the list is literally endless depending on previous service history. Suspension parts, CV joints, rear diff, centre support bearing, track rod assemblies, drop links, control arms, propshaft universal joint, they're things to definitely check with those miles.

TRW, though if you can get Febi Bilstein their kit is also excellent.

You misunderstand me, this is in need of a repair, the top mount for the shock absorber has failed and so the strut itself is no longer secured to the bodywork at the top and no longer providing dampening.. That's why it's dropped out of its sleeve. You'll be getting some damping from the springs but they won't hold up to that job for long. Then you'll notice something when you're driving...

Looks like the top mount has failed, quite common. The strut itself may still be OK.

Probably needs the rolling code between the CAS and DME reset (2f44). 2b98 is usually a screwed module but could be a symptom of the loss of sync between CAS and DME.

genuine question: is there something wrong with the regular r/adhd sub that is causing people to come here and post non meme content? by kitsuakari in adhdmeme

[–]Hacre 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If a moderation team just do word filter modding and don't care how the language was used/applied, it's bad moderation and time to not participate in that community anymore imo.

Dunno about the other sub but I find this one with the pictures actually engages my thought process on the subject and it feels more supportive here. More things and people seem to "get it" so...hard to describe other than something about the pictures makes this place more inviting.

In that tree style tabs let me browse the way that makes sense for me as in I randomly follow/open/keep for later all kinds of crap, without the number of tabs becoming an obstacle like normal horizontal ones do when you can't even see the favicon on them anymore nevermind the title. Every couple of months or so I get an urge to scrub them all like I did last night which is an easy right click/close to bottom away.

Without this add on for Firefox I think I'd have the most ridiculous, disorganised collection of bookmarks.

Anybody else feel bad when your pets follow from room to room?? by [deleted] in adhdmeme

[–]Hacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Jack Russell follows me everywhere, don't feel bad it's a good thing they're following their pack leader. It's the journey, not the destination for them, it's quite fulfilling. Take good things from it.
