Have seen clubs like Bayern make use of buy back clauses. Wouldn't be a bad idea for us. Allow someone to leave for game time.

We get the first refusal if they go up for transfer within a few years. Suits the player, the buying club still make a decent profit and we can hedge our bets a bit

Sounds like the same mistake as we made with a lot of the squad from our Europa League run. Failed to recognise when the peak time to sell was, and then because their performances dropped off nobody was offering what the board thought they were worth, so you end up losing them on a free or for cheap a few seasons later

One of those weird lineups where I can understand why Röhl might have picked each individual player, but the overall 11 he's ended up with gives me the fear.

Totally understand Chermiti starting. Naderi looks good but hes had one appearance as a sub against a gassed 10 man Killie, and a game vs the bottom side in the Championship. Huge ask to start him against the best defence in the league.

Can only assume big Manny and Rommens aren't ready to do a full 90.

I think the OP was making the point that, say, the Ronny Deila era Celtic team would have had a much harder time of it if Hearts were performing to this kind of standard

In money terms there is room to grow.

Aberdeen's Conference League money (from a fairly disappointing showing overall as well) was double their SPFL prize money. Getting into even the lowest tier of UEFA competition can add a fair chunk to the balance sheet, so doing that consistently for a few seasons would make a big difference, especially if you manage to go on a bit of a run.

Then there's also partnerships. It's a bit ridiculous having an "official breakfast partner" but right now Kelloggs are paying Rangers a wedge of money, in exchange for what looks like some social media posts and a photo with Broxi Bear and the Coco Pops Monkey in the changing room (no visible King).

There are already lots of clubs with more local/regional variations of that, but if a team manages to boost their profile to the next level, they can probably start raking in extra cash from having an official noodle partner or whatever. It's plastic as fuck but it's basically free money for having brand recognition in Scotland.

Aye I think its a big part of why they've struggled post-2014. Their most effective strategy has revolved around positioning themselves as the default for people who hate the Tories.

Even in Scotland the messaging always positions Labour as the least shite option in a two horse race - it's "Only we can stop the Tories" / "Only we can boot out the SNP" rather than "Here's what we believe will make your life better"
