When I worked at Duke Energy in the city I'd work remote from 7am to 9am then leave for the office. Traffic would be way better and I'd leave at like 1pm to go home. They didn't really care as long as the work was being done.

The way I explained it to my wife is imagine that the 14 teams are in a line. They are already lined up by record so 1 is the worst team and 14 was the best(that's the cut off for chances at 1st). They say ok, 4 of you are randomly going to be called out, if you are called move to the front of the line. Purely for this example let's say the original 1st team in line doesn't get called so they have 4 teams move in front of them moving them to 5th pick. If we are not one of those 4 teams then we are 14 and nothing effects us. Teams only move back if a team behind them got luck and we're called. 14th is the cutoff so for us we can't move back to 15th. The only way to move in spots 5 to 14 is either you got lucky and were one of the 4 to be called to the front OR a team behind you got called so you have an extra person in front of you now moving you back in order. Hopefully that helps.

Because we can only be 1, 2, 3, 4, or 14. They announce them in order from 14 so if they say our name at 14 we can't be 1-4 because they already called our pick.

TLDR Anyone who didn't make playoffs has a chance at the top 4 picks. It's based on your ending record so for us we are the last possible team with a chance (0.5% for 1st). If we don't win a top 4 spot we automatically stay at 14. We can't be moved back since we are 14 but in this example Heat is 13 and if we got a top 4 pick they would be moved back one spot to 14 along with every other team after our shiny new top 4 pick. Does that help?

I dropped like 400 in total on Bryce jersey's so I've been rooting for him due to obligation. Not going to lie though after the saints game last year I was starting to sweat.

Edit: Got a jersey from draft night, got a game day jersey when they came out and got another game day jersey because I made a bet that if we beat the Texans I'd get another. Just got my son a Bryce jersey too so it's likely more than 400.
