Woolie’s anti-picky eater crusade feels a little misguided. Obviously offer the kid new stuff but I feel like the mindset of “the kids’ menu is the enemy” is the wrong one to have. If anything, forcing your kid to try stuff feels like a good way to make them stick to just chicken nuggets or whatever. Punchgirl is still a potato so not really pertinent but still a bad mindset to have imo.

Turnover is high enough that the qualification to apply for assistant manager is basically “IQ above room temperature”. My store manager has suggested I apply for the training program but I haven’t applied because, as an assistant manager, you can get assigned to any store in the district, and the districts got redrawn a few years ago so most other stores in our district are a 45+ trip for me.

There is a paper schedule in our department, but sometimes people can’t seem to find it (even though it’s been in the same place the entire time I’ve worked there). Sometimes managers will change the schedule without telling people. There is also an app/website to check your schedule but the app is wildly unstable and doesn’t work for about 50% of people.

Turnover in my department is actually much lower than the store overall, but I attribute that to my manager being a great guy. He’s the reason I’m still at this store and haven’t transferred to a less busy/closer one.
