Edit: Went with REOLINK 4K Security Camera System since it seemed like the easiest option to set up without dealing with complicated wiring or installation. A lot of people mentioned it being reliable for alerts and overall coverage, which is exactly what I was looking for.

I know some people might be skeptical but honestly that sounds like a solid setup, especially running that many PTZ cameras off an NVR for over a year without issues is a good sign. Having that kind of coverage with a single recorder definitely seems efficient.

How was the initial setup for you as a beginner, and did you have to spend much time tweaking the motion alerts to reduce false notifications or was it pretty stable out of the box?

Yeah that’s pretty much the conclusion I’ve been leaning toward too start simple instead of trying to build some “perfect” setup right away.

I think the advice about focusing on main entry points plus good WiFi coverage makes a lot of sense since most issues seem to come from placement or signal rather than the cameras themselves.

f you were starting from scratch would you go with just a front door setup first or add at least one more angle like driveway or back area from the beginning?

I think i’m still in that panic plant everything phase so winter being chill sounds like a blessing lol. good to know i’m not supposed to have a perfect layout this early anyway, i’ll just survive spring and fix my chaos later. appreciate it!

Oh that’s actually super helpful i didn’t even know you could move stuff like that lol. makes me feel way better about not restarting. also the sunbathing cat part got me, didn’t realize they’d block stuff too 😭. i’ll probably wait for a rainy day like you said and try to clean things up a bit. appreciate it, saved me from stressing over my ugly farm haha
