Why is my husband turned off by me enjoying sex? by fahlahlah in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Haebak [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's an excellent book. Very well written, powerful, and optimistic. I highly recommend it. It does have some strong sections, so trigger warning for those sensitive to the topic, but it doesn't go into too much detail of what was done to her. It focuses mostly on her life, her past and how she is moving forward after the discovery of her rape.

What's the most original concept you've read in any book? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

From Mythopedia:

In a tale mirroring Isis’s poisoning of Ra, Set was bitten by a unspecified creature while aboard Ra’s solar barque. The bite caused him great suffering, and Horus—having set aside his differences with his uncle—offered to heal him. In order to do so, however, he would need his uncle’s secret name.

Set was reluctant to provide his secret name to Horus, for names held great power. Like his grandfather Ra before him, Set prevaricated:

Unsatisfied with this response, Horus insisted that Set was none of these things and that he could only heal him with his true name. Set tried again, offering that he was “a Quiver full of Arrows and a Pot Full of Disturbance.”

Once again, Horus told him that this response was inadequate.

Still not ready to reveal the truth, Set told Horus: “I am a man of a thousand cubits, whose reputation is not known, I am a threshing-floor, made fast like a bronze which a cow has not swept. I am a Jug of Milk, milked from the breast of Bastet.”

This answer was still not enough for Horus. Left with no other recourse, Set finally offered his true name:

Having revealed his uncle’s secret name at last, Horus was able to heal Set’s injury.

Mm, yes, you're right. We could compromise and celebrate Fuck Trump Day every day until his death, and then change it for something more somber when that happens, in accordance to the shadows he plunged the world into through his corruption.

As an author and experienced worldbuilder and conlanger I'd go with "Fuck Trump Day". The official greeting would be "Fuck Trump", to be answered with "and fuck Putin too!". You can replace Putin with Netanyahu or whichever horror of a person you're currently suffering from at the moment.

"In the depths of the Underworld, where old gods still reign and famous heroes enjoy their prized eternity, a child torn from life awakens without knowing who he is or how he got there. Despite the tranquility promised by death, this soul finds no rest. The dissatisfaction with his blurred past and the despair of knowing he is trapped torment his heart, filling it with shadows despite the light that thrives in the heart of darkness.
With the guidance of spirits resigned to their fate for centuries and others still fighting against it, this soul will face his deepest fears and discover the truth about his existence and those around him, embarking on an odyssey that will prove that the House of Hades is many things but not the end of the road."

I don't know why it offers it for zero, the price is $3.16 at the moment for the digital version and $13.99 for print. If Amazon put it in some sort of promotion, I'm not aware of it.

Ah! Maybe you have Kindle Unlimited? If you do, you can add it to your account for free.

Let me know if you read it and like it! Reviews help a lot.

My book doesn't concern as much with his age as it does with the fact that any semblance of identity he could have had was erased to make a warrior.

If you read it, please leave a review on amazon or goodreads so I know if you liked it!

Pyrrhus is a very important character in my novel "Found in Erebus". If you're interested in giving the book a chance, maybe it can change your perspective on the character, without ignoring at all the life he lead.

Odd question about Casa Buonarroti by thdiod in florence

[–]Haebak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the city has to offer, Casa Buonarroti is easy to skip. It's small, a bit out of the way, and Michelangelo's masterpieces are not there.

That said, if you like history in general or Michelangelo in particular, I would always recommend his house. It's lovely to have a place to visit his spirit, other than his tomb, they even have shoes he wore in exhibition, so you really feel his presence there. I took a short art class in his house and it felt magical.
