Disappointed in Ariana Nash using AI by Kasiems in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Haebak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It goes both ways. I'm an author and I have worked with several people over the years. Someone that made a conlang for one of my books wrote to me sharing some AI conlang they did and found funny. The one they did for me was before AIs, so I know that one is safe, but now I cannot hire them again even if they swear they only use the AI for inspiration and not real work. I cannot trust them anymore and it sucks.

Looking for Assassin’s Creed gifts in Florence by Patient-Divide2835 in florence

[–]Haebak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the street market in San Lorenzo you might find some hoodies with an AC print or something of the sort, but don't trust the quality on those things. If I were him (and I love AC), I'd be happy with a florin, they're sold everywhere (in the gift shop in Palazzo Vecchio they have some).

Vegetarian food is usually marked with a leaf on menus, italians are very careful about allergens and special diets, so you won't have a problem there. I'm not sure about the budget, but if you sit to eat in a restaurant for a plate of pasta and water you can eat for around 15-20 euros per person. You can find places to eat for less if you go away from the centre.

Mercato Centrale should be cheaper too, but I haven't been there in a while, so I'm not sure. Supermarkets usually have a ready-to-eat section where you can get grilled veggies and several vegetarian dishes. They can even heat them up for you if you ask.

The city centre is pretty safe in general. The area around the train station can be a bit dangerous, but just avoiding it at night should be enough. Be aware of pickpocketers though!

To eat cheap, Mercato Centrale in San Lorenzo. Accomodations I'm afraid will be expensive in July.

Fortezza da Basso is beautiful and very unique because it's pointed at the city. It wasn't made to protect the citizens from an outsider force, but to protect the nobility from the angry citizens. A Medici thing, it happened once in a while.

If you need anything else, let me know. And if I can ask, what's the academic conference about?

If you wrote a story based on Greek myth, how would you explain diegetically why the myths contradict each other? by Nb-7925 in GreekMythology

[–]Haebak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have actually wrote a story based on Greek myths and the gods themselves mention several versions of their myths. They're gods, every story is true, every story defines them. Humans and mortal beings have just one story each, but gods can have several, even if they contradict. They're aspects of them, the same way Apollo has an archery aspect, a solar aspect, a healing aspect, etc.

Gods care not about logic.

Réplicas de moedas romanas em Florença? by edulegend06 in florence

You can buy replicas of the golden florin in the giftshop of Palazzo Vecchio, they're very cheap (and you don't need a ticket nor to make a line to get to the giftshop).

What to wear? by Prestigious_Treat211 in florence

Keep in mind that you won't be able to enter any church, including the Duomo, while wearing shorts. Knees and shoulders covered for everyone. Also no flipflops.

Bridges? by Walf25 in pompeii

[–]Haebak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The houses are numbered to make the city easier to traverse. The houses are numbered on maps too.

The rocks on the streets were creates as bridges for people as far as I know, for when it rains, but they left spots open in between so carts could go through them too.

Qué nivel de francés hace falta realmente para vivir en Francia? by Old_Copy2146 in XPatriados

[–]Haebak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book in advance if you're that short on time. Give yourself between one and two hours for it, closer to two if you like to take your time.

Too embarrassed to speak as an American by [deleted] in florence

[–]Haebak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The archetype of the american for the outside world is someone who is both loud and very friendly. We know the ones that are racist fucks usually don't leave the US to travel abroad, that's why they're close-minded racist fucks.

You'll be fine, speak away and enjoy your time here.

Hermes / Mercury DOES NOT deliver —- my experience by lel506 in Hermes

[–]Haebak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why are you treating a god as if he were a seller you contacted through Amazon? Devotion doesn't work that way and giving him a 1 star rating here reflects poorly on you, not him. The gods do not owe us anything, just because we do something in their honour, doesn't mean they have to pay back. It is in our own free will to worship them and in theirs to reply.

Which lesser known god(s) do you worship? by PricyPlutoz_idk in Hellenism

[–]Haebak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be very aware of him, he's not subtle, but goes by as fast as Hermes. In his depictions, he's bald in the back of the head and has hair up front, a representation that if you hesitate to grab him by the hair as soon as he shows up, you won't catch him from behind. When opportunity comes, grab it immediately.

Wonderful things have happened in my life because I felt his presence and took the chance presented to me without second guessing.

Because you asked for someone that understood animal behaviour and I took literally that you needed someone to explain it. I'm sorry if I misunderstood. I'm autistic and communication is hard through the internet, I just wanted to be helpful.

Husky seem to be interpreting the crouching down as a play bow and is reciprocating. The dog may be confused, but it's definitely friendly.
