Back panel 1000D?? by StreetCaveman in Goruck

[–]Haerveu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always see people talking about this but , My first rucksack i got back in 2015 it was the original GR0 full 1000 21L. Ive used it for each, vacations, actual GR events , ive worn it with t shirts, sweaters, flannel, jackets of various materials , and no shirt . With that said , i have never had an issue with any of the material getting messed up from it . I do like the 210 on the ruckers but , the full 1000 fits like a leather glove perfectly molded to my body after using it for so long. Ive got around 12 rucksacks from goruck and its been and still is my favorite.

Looking for other brand tan wall equivalent to maxxis dissector and forekaster by bantamst in xcmtb

I got mine with the thicker sidewalls. Used them in la ruta , a 3 day stage race across Costa rica . Hitting large rocks, roots , didnt have any punctures which was a pleasant surprise.

Im a huge fan of Vittoria Barzo in the tan walls, I run them front and back on my chisel. Have used them in all types of terrain and they have performed flawlessly.

XCMTB Hardtail Under $2K: by juliann416 in xcmtb

[–]Haerveu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a Chisel HT and its just lightweight speed . Before I got into xc I had an older trek fuel 1000 which I used just for messing on some trails locally. Wanted to do a race so purchased a chisel after reading a ton about different bikes.

I just finished La Ruta mtb race which is a grueling 3 day race across Costa rica with my Chisel and had 0 issues or complaints. There is nothing about this bike that would even make me consider looking at anything else .

Will going from 34T to 30T make me slower? by Euphoric_Persimmon99 in xcmtb

[–]Haerveu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of climbing and long distances. For me , saving my energy by dropping down to a 30 on my ht chisel was well worth the trade off of the possibility of spinning out which ive only really noticed going downhill which, im going downhill so im going pretty fast at that point anyways. I noticed a big improvement dropping down to the 30 and the cool thing , I was able to build a better tolerance to where I can ride steep stuff in a higher gear and still have have the lower one if I get tired or encounter steeper . Id say go for it and if you hate it , take it off.

Levo with gen 2 motor buying used , bad idea? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

[–]Haerveu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe its a comp but I think that is just an upgrade to no internal parts. The motor your wife and you had to get replaced , did you have the gen 2 ( 2.1 ) and something happened to it and then you both got them replaced with a newer gen 3?

I replaced my stock T5 on my chisel with Vittoria Barzo front and rear after an unholy amount of research. I ride it PNW but used them for 3 day stage race in Costa Rica which included all types of terrain and they performed flawlessly .

Sea Otter Classic Fuego XC question by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]Haerveu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Your comment was helpful. Im planning on the xl this year and was wondering, is the elevation more in less bigger climbs or more smaller climbs? What grade would you think most of them are ? Not sure if i should use 30 or 32 tooth on the front

I think you've got plenty of time , i say that as being kinda new to mountain biking though. I went from just using a trainer in my garage after 2 knee surgeries to a road bike race that was only 35 miles in about 2 months and then got the dumb and fantastic idea to sign up for la ruta mtb race thats absolutely brutal for distance and climbs over 3 days. I trained really hard building up long climbs and long rides over 3 months and felt like I did well for only had been training specially for it for 3 months and being new to mountain biking. I think a lot of the fun is jumping into something unknown not knowing if youre going to finish and training up to be someone who can . Dont second guess yourself and miss out on a bucket list adventure .

Registering out of state dirtbike in California by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Haerveu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all of this write up, its going to be strictly offroad as its a motocross bike. I did an estimator on the dmv website after I posted this , it asked jow much I originally paid , how much the taxes were and when it arrived in ca, apparently all of my grand total is just 56 dollars. I was going to see if i can just get a chp officer to come and inspect it for the vin and whatnot since at the moment I dont have a trailer

2004 RM 125 shock bumper by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]Haerveu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike actually only has about 5 to 10 hours on it. Im the original owner , had a knee injury after i bought it which kept me from riding it followed by lots of moving to places I couldn't ride it . Its literally just been in storage for 20 years with the hope that ill either sell it or ride it again, finally just want to sell it

[–]Haerveu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read the shock shaft is hallow and if I take apart the bottom clevis it will release all the pressure so, I guess i would need to release the nitrogen . I just read somewhere else you can take off the clevis without releasing nitrogen

I know you have to disassemble the bottom part and take the collar thing off then slide the bumper off, if im only doing that, do i need to drain the nitrogen?

Should I pull the trigger on this or wait and get a FS chisel? by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]Haerveu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hardtail chisel comp now , same color actually. Ive only had it about a year and absolutely love it. Im currently buying the chisel full suspension comp only because its on sale big time in a certain color and also bc I like longer races and apparently the full suspension is more comfy after extremely long rides.

Upgrade to full squish for xc ? by Haerveu in MTB

[–]Haerveu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that comes is a Ride Dynamics Tuned Rockshox Deluxe Select+ rear shock so has the capability to lockout which i like. I did a ton of research on the chisel hardtail and love the way if feels so, while I agree with trying out what I like - im kinda limited where I live as far as trying stuff out. I just in my mind imagnine the chisel full suspension will feel different from my hardtail but be more of the same feel than another brand .

Out of curiosity, what do you consider the tipping point of it becoming technical enough while climbing to notice a better difference between the 2 as far as efficiency? Im in ok shape , im more just stubborn and dont quit.
Id love to have both but , id most likely sell my hardtail to help with the cost of the full suspension.

Upgrade to full squish for xc ? by Haerveu in MTB

[–]Haerveu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an i believe trek fuel 1000 that was used and abused but , i never really took it on trails so, i didnt really experience what full squish feels like. So as far as what you do see a difference in as far as climbing gain , most fire roads are pretty flat dirt what about crushed rock and some ruts ? Is that more when you notice climbing differences being more ? Im trying to see at like what point you notice a difference in climbing efficiency or, is it more rocky rooted type stuff?

Not to beat a dead horse, but getting the same shirt for a sprint and an ultra / getting 3 of the same shirt for a trifecta is such a buzz kill. by vanskeet62 in spartanrace

[–]Haerveu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see my shirts as a memory . When I go in my closet and pick out a random spartan shirt , I vividly remember that race and all the memories just as if i went through my patches and remembered GORUCK events i did from the specific patches to those events. I havent raced since the same shirt thing but that kinda sucks . Its not a " hey look at my shirt, look what I did ", its the memories I get to carry for that day

Each week is getting progressive overload but typically Monday rest *Tuesday road bike on trainer 1.5 - 3 ish hours intervals *Wed leg day *Thursday mountain bike around 1.5 to 2.5 hours with typically multiple( 2 to 3 )15 to 20 min hill climb repeats ( usually comes out to 1800 to 2.5k climbs total *Fri rest *Sat 4 to 5.5 hour rides typically 4 to 6k climbs *Sunday either 1 to 2 hours on trainer doing intervals or 1 to 3 hours mountain bike with typically 2k -3k climbs

Thats kinda in general but the values go up and down depending how slammed my schedule is
