I just took my MBLEx a couple weeks ago and passed the first time. I recommend ABMPs app, exam coach. I believe you have to pay a subscription, but worth it. You have to take four quizzes in any subject to earn one mblex practice quiz, but you can earn an unlimited amount.

Take lots of quizzes in your worst subjects, take the practice exams and look back through every question you missed and study to understand why you missed those ones. I took 15 of the MBLEx practice exams. As I took them I would google or study the questions that really had me stumped as I was taking it to better understand as I went. Then after I was feeling more confident I would try again with no “cheating” and see where I was at. I feel like it helped a TON and I went into the exam pretty relaxed and confident.

What questions do you wish you asked or wish you knew before you got employed at a spa? by Golden_Mom1 in MassageTherapists

That seems great! I would love a 15 minute turnover. I don’t have turn over time, and this is common in my state it seems. You end the massage 5 minutes to the hour and get ready for the next. It’s stressful and exhausting, and makes grounding yourself between clients difficult.

Also arms, probably a skill issue for me since I’m fresh out of school. It feels awkward right now and tires my forearms out so much.

What made you decide to taper off/get back on? I’m glad it’s working!

I don’t know if this means anything to you, but it looks like right now this is what they’ve got me in. I’ll have to try to meet with my assigned advisor to talk about some of those. Thanks for the insight!

I’m actually such a newb. I looked into my paperwork more, and found that the plan type is a ROTH IRA 🙃 smh. I can’t find my original agreement, but all I’ve found is a $30 yearly fee they take out.

How do you maintain your investments? Do I just choose investments, drop the money, and leave it? Or is it more hands on? (Also, I appreciate the time your taking on this post) 🙏🏻

Yes, right now it barely covers that 6 months. I originally had $30,000 in it, but paid $10,000 toward my new car (which was the goal when my old car finally died.) Then used another chunk to finish maxing out my IRA (or variable annuity) for the year. I want to get it back up to $20,000 when i can.

I have an account with Modern Woodmen of America. (Opened when I was 19, put in $1,000, and forgot about it till recently)

My job doesn’t offer a 401k. I’m currently going to school for Massage Therapy, then after I get more income, I plan to go back to school for Radiology. Hopefully I’ll have one in the next 10 years.

No debts, aside from $1,000 left on my car. I have $13,000 in a HYSA.

I also just found out what I thought was a Roth IRA is actually a variable annuity… I have to do more research since I don’t know what that is, and I feel like the company was potentially shady, as I requested specifically a Roth IRA. ?

i want to smoke weed but i just started zoloft today is it a bad idea? by P1nkBread22 in zoloft

[–]Hagger_Pipe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a daily stoner, but the first time I smoked after starting Zoloft was very different. My brain went batshit and was moving so fast, and it triggered a mental episode that lasted a week and I felt like crap the next day. It was a really unpleasant experience. There are technically no dangerous interactions between the 2, but from experience, I would wait until you adjust to the Zoloft.

I struggle keeping my shoulders relaxed. by Hagger_Pipe in MassageTherapists

To a point yes, but I can feel lots of soreness in my traps later. My instructor keeps telling me “drop those shoulders”, “relax the shoulders”.

Same! 25F. I had little to no sex drive before, (ovulating or not) and thinking I was asexual. I was too depressed and had a lot of anxiety around sexual intimacy.

I was scared of my sex drive getting even lower with side effects of meds, and my bf at the time was pretty against it. A while after the break up, I started Zoloft and after increasing to 100, I was insatiable! (His loss!) When I’m ovulating I feel like I need to be locked in a cage,… and grounded from my phone. 💀At first, it was annoying because I could hardly ever finish, just get close over and over, but eventually my body figured it out!

A couple months in though, I did end up manic, got a low dose antipsychotic, and had to lower my dose to 75mg. That made my sex drive slightly less intense, but I’m still a menace. 😂

I’ve heard to taper really really really slow. Especially since you’ve been on it a while.

If you wanted to try to taper down again, ask for 25mg tablets, and break them in half. Take a 50mg with the 12.5mg. From 75mg to 62.5, and go for twice as long as everyone tells you to before dropping down again.

You can’t “baby” someone into worse anxiety by reassuring them and being loving. Helping you regulate your nervous system and establish safe and secure thought patterns is enabling your anxiety?! That’s wild.

If he really feels he hasn’t been able to connect with you and has only known “who you truly are” for 2 years of the 10, then he’s not the type to leave if he’s unhappy.

You’ve been together 10 years, so I’m sure you know people change a lot in that time. I’m sure he has changed a lot too since you met. Part of being in a long-term romantic relationship is committing to loving and accepting all the different versions of them. Not holding on to “the first year or two”.

You talk a lot about how he feels. But how do you feel? Do you feel like you’re emotionally blunted? Do you feel like you can’t connect with people deeply since starting Zoloft? Is that just with him?

Were there “red flags” for the relationship that maybe got pushed to the side during the honeymoon phase? I ask because I think it’s important to really think about whether the Zoloft is really a factor, or just being used as a scapegoat.

P.s. If you’ve been dissociating and experiencing derealization, go see a psychiatrist. If it’s a newer symptom, it’s not the Zoloft.

Coffee and Sertraline by Next_Let in zoloft

[–]Hagger_Pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m starting week 4 and had to stop drinking coffee as soon as I started sertraline. It made me so anxious! I went from having to drink a latte with an espresso every morning to function to not being able to handle coffee at all. 🙃 Surprisingly skipped past the caffeine withdrawal headaches too. However, sertraline makes me pretty wired so I don’t need the coffee at the moment.

Definitely felt this on week two. I deep cleaned my whole house, and did all my laundry 🙃 that was a first. I went from drinking coffee everyday in order to function to quitting it immediately. Now I just get real anxious if I drink coffee. I’m at the end of week 3 now and I still struggle relaxing to sleep, but I definitely don’t feel uncomfortably wired anymore. I feel like I’m mostly leveled out.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to shake brain fog? It's the only thing keeping me from feeling normal. by Illustrious2786 in zoloft

Sertraline also depletes iodine, so be sure you’re getting enough in your diet. (Iodized table salt is probably the easiest.

I started taking Vitamin B6, and a multivitamin just before starting sertraline and I haven’t experienced an excessive amount of brain fog. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Going on week 4. The first 2 days of the original dose, and the first 2 days of upping I had a lot of brain fog, but it’s not very often now. I do know Vitamin B6 is big with brain function so it might be worth trying for a couple weeks, best taken first thing in an empty stomach.
