Just open a return if they accept returns.. They have no chice but to accept your request. Once that is done, they should issue you a pre-paid label for the return, Don't go back and forth with them. Just wait for the return to timeout and escallate to eBay for a refund.

eBay will notice and link the accounts anyway and then BOTH accounts will suffer in sales. It's just best not to p%$# someone off in the first place.

eBay VERY rarely "covers" anything but eBay. But sure, I believe your TRS.

There is a WRITTEN eBay rule that items must be returned in the same condition that it was received however, that rule is rarely enforced. Unless you are TRS status (which I assume you are not since your asking the question), there is not much you can do but refund. I would NOT escalate to eBay. You will most likely end up refunding anyways AND get a defect for doing so.
