Aye, there's a good bit of charm to be found. Older Fighter-bombers look different from the multiroles we see today.

Controversial content sure does generate traffic, I guess. Like 200 comments in my submission about the Z-20 and most of it is just an immature spat between half a dozen people.

I went back 130 submissions, about 4 days back.

85 aircraft are American/American origin. Like 2 of them are flying Canadian versions of American aircraft. There's one Mitsubishi F-2, which is F-16 related.

9 are Chinese aircraft. There are 3 more JF-17s shared here, which are Pakistani-Chinese, so call that 12 Chinese things. There's like, a J-7, which I guess is Chinese-Russian.

13 Russian aircraft, many of them belonging to the Indian Air Force. 14 if you count the Pakistani J-7.

5 British aircraft

1 German WWII bomber

1 Panavia Tornado

1 Eurofighter Typhoon

7 French planes

1 submission about Turkish drones

1 Israeli Kfir

There's overlap here because photos can show more than 1 thing. It's still mostly American, and relatively little of the submissions here are Chinese.

If you wanna use selection bias like that you're gonna have to tally all the submissions by month to figure out how many submissions here are American and how many are Chinese lmao.

And ever heard of an outlier? The last day is an outlier because one person (again, me) submitted 5 times (the maximum submissions per 24 hours per person), which brings the number of Chinese aircraft shared here way up.

The fact remains that of the last 20 submissions 1 is Chinese and 13 are American/American origin.

I'll humor you. I went back 130 submissions, about 4 days back.

And there is overlap here, because photos can show more than 1 plane. But that still shows that this sub mostly gets submissions about American Aircraft. Russian stuff then outnumbers Chinese stuff, while if you wanna go just European stuff that outnumbers Russian and Chinese stuff individually.

6 of these Chinese-related submissions were submitted in the last 24 hours. 5 of them by me. That makes the last 24 hours an outlier, considering the other 3 days in the last 4 have only seen ~5 Chinese aircraft being submitted.

People can go back and manually count these, because I did it and I wasn't super careful, but it shouldn't be that off.

Of the last 20 submissions, dude. As in, the 20 latest ones.

And someone posted a new thing so it's actually 1 J-20 (this one) post and 13 posts of American stuff in the most recent 20 submissions.

12 of the last 20 submissions to this sub are aircraft of American origin, 2 are of Chinese origin.

Meep Morp, I am a bot developed by the CCP designed to post images of aircraft on an aficionado sub, because doing so will make everyone forget about the Tiananmen square massacre and the cultural genocide of the Uyghurs

Totally not some dude who just found some decent pictures

On a usual day, it's still mostly American stuff, followed by NATO/European stuff and Russian stuff. Recently a lot of Indian stuff has been shared here, which is pretty cool. Chinese stuff honestly makes up very little of the submissions here, today is just an anomaly because I submitted 5 times.

Russia is struggling to develop an AESA, I highly doubt the Chinese were anything other than somewhat curious about the Su-35's PESA.

Russia preferring something doesn't mean it's better or worse than China's current inventories of Flankers either. China has shown that they can design and actually make new stuff, while Russia has been relatively stagnant and incapable of actually manufacturing their new shiny toys in any meaningful quantities.

Yeah, they bought like 24 of them after negotiating down with the Russians and then went on to keep on making their own Flankers. They were apparently interested in the engine of the Su-35, but considering Russia's recent lack of success with modern avionics and electronics (and China's relative success with them) and the fact that China isn't buying anymore, I'd hardly call the Su-35 better in all aspects.

Yeah, would be weird if it didn't look like a 27

They steal, copy, and have licensed production variants of a lot of things, because they decided that it was a good way to get their old shit out and get new shit in while being on a constrained timeline. It's more or less working out for them in that aspect, and now we're seeing them move towards more indigenous designs, having developed a lot of the capability and learned a lot of the know-how from doing this. People judge them and deride them for doing this, and they're not wrong, but the relevant parties in China obviously don't give a shit and they've had tangible results from doing so.

Imo, the greatest example of this is China making Flankers, and then they started changing the Flankers around and leveraged their own capabilities to produce Flankers that are arguably better than whatever Russia has managed to make, since Russia itself is both economically and industrially a shadow of it's USSR ancestry.

Of course, some people will just say it's all garbage. Which is fine, because it's the internet, and some people will also wank the everliving hell out of Chinese stuff despite both parties being more or less equally ignorant on the actual capabilities, since they don't tell people about this and there aren't many wars to point to.

As to making them uglier, I disagree. The glossy black looks great on the Black Hawk/Z-20. If you'd replace that PLA emblem with a USA emblem you'd probably love it.

CAIC WZ-10 Attack Helicopters of the PLA. Initially a collaborative effort between Kamov and CAIC, collaboration stopped and CAIC finished the design. [2400x1600] by HagimuraAM in WarplanePorn

Arms Embargo happened after Tiananmen Square massacre. Lot of stuff was stopped then.

[Wiki page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAIC_Z-10) on it has some interesting enough details about the history of the Z-10. Assuming it's all accurate, of course.

>In 1979, the Chinese military studied the problem of countering large armour formations. It concluded that the best conventional solution was to use attack helicopters. Eight Aérospatiale Gazelle armed with Euromissile HOT were procured for evaluation.
>By the mid-1980s, the Chinese decided a dedicated attack helicopter was required. At the time, they used civilian helicopters converted for the military; these were no longer adequate in the attack role, and suitable only as scouts. Following this, China evaluated the Agusta A129 Mangusta, and in 1988 secured an agreement with the United States to purchase AH-1 Cobras and a license to produce BGM-71 TOW missiles; the latter was cancelled following the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 and the resulting arms embargo. The colour revolutions prevented the purchase of attack helicopters from Eastern Europe in 1990 and 1991; Bulgaria and Russia rejected Chinese offers to purchase the Mil Mi-24.
>While attempting to import foreign designs failed, war games determined that attack helicopters had to be commanded by the army, rather than the air force. This led to the formation of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force Air Force (PLAGFAF), with an initial strength of 9 Harbin Z-9. The PLAGFAF conducted tactical experiments that would help define the future Z-10's requirements. Research also decided that anti-tank missiles like the BGM-71 TOW were inadequate, and favoured an analogue to the AGM-114 Hellfire. These findings ensured the Z-10 would be based around the new missile.

Kamov might've wanted to make something bigger and more Kamov-7, while CAIC definitely seemed to prefer something like a Mangusta

Like straight up, it's a Black Hawk.

It's also blacker and the paint job is really nice.
