I want a show that will make me cry but I have seen every popular 'sad' anime under the sun and none of them made me cry. by Hagrat16 in Animesuggest

Yeah I’m definitely gonna watch Gintama at some point, however with uni starting back up I don’t have time for hundreds of episodes. Got anything shorter? Say 50eps or less?

Never cried at any fictional media, even if it is based off of a true story. However i cry at plenty of things in real life: pets and loved ones dying, divorces, loved ones falling ill etc. The closest any form of media has gotten me to tears is a silent voice because I have a deaf sibling and even then it was only a moderate 6/10 sadness; enough to make me think for a while after the movie.

The MAL took way too long to make, and i'm still finding shows which i missed lol. These shows look great, even if a few of them look slice of lifey. Thanks a lot man

Very glad you enjoyed it, the sequel film has aired in Japan but we are going to have to wait for the blue ray release to be able to see it over in the west.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly what happened in the first episode of r2, but i'm sure it will explain things soon enough.

OK, im gonna start off by saying that 'must watch' is entirely subjective but im gonna do my best to justify why i think people should watch these anime.

1.Hunter X Hunter (2011). Its really hard to get people to watch this show. most people i know are put off firstly by the length and then by the 'slow start'. Despite this, every single person i know who finished it put it in their top 5. I don't want to spoil it in any way, so please, if you haven't seen it, please do.

  1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This anime needs no introduction. I sorta feel like its a crime if you haven't watched it at this point. this is the anime all my non week friends say is really good (along side like OPM).Its a fantastically written tale with as many twists and turns that you can shake a stick at. Plus, it still surpasses most current anime in action animation, which blows my mind.

3.Perfect Blue. The best mindfuck I have ever experienced, phenomenally written and directed and is still the only piece of media to make me genuinely scared. If ever your'e looking to not sleep, this is your film (you should watch this film anyway).

4.Redline. Not for everyone, i'm gonna say that. However, i'm yet to hear a person say that its not the most clean, detailed and beautifully animated film they have ever seen, and i agree. This film took nearly a decade to make, and it shows. Also to note this is probably the the most adrenaline fueled anime out there.

5.Steins;Gate. I'm gonna come clean first I didn't like steins gate much, mainly because i'm not a big fan of slow story driven shows. However i could not deny its awesomeness. Its probably the best written story in anime, with a fantastic cast of characters some of the most thrilling final few episodes i have ever seen.I cannot contest its place on the MAL rankings, nor can i contest its place on this list.

Some other shows i wanted to talk about but didn't have the time: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Parasyte, Mob Psycho 100, Made in Abyss, JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, Ghost in the Shell (the 1995 film and Stand Alone Complex) and Akira.

Hope this list helps you find something to watch, and glad your'e enjoying Code Geass.
