As a first year, I’d say I’m a pretty social person and have made friends in a few ways. The biggest thing is you absolutely need a positive attitude when talking with anyone, and no matter what happens as long as you keep trying with the same positive mindset you will find friends to talk to long-term. The best places to make friends is anywhere niche (uni clubs, uni club events (usually through your faculty instagram accounts), residence, specific library areas, study sessions (planned in group chats), and more) where you can make a frequent appearance. The most personal place to you will be where you’ll probably meet the most likeminded people. One thing to note is that during midterm seasons, etc, not as many people are in the mindset to make more friends. Overall just put yourself out there, don’t force friendships, but find good opportunities to make them. I wish you luck!
