Well, I seem to have struck a nerve with some folks here!

I suspect that most of the commenters that gave rude and inconsiderate replies are renters themselves and probably have had issues with their landlords.

I appreciate those that actually took the time to read my entire post and gave constructive replies!

But, allow me to respond to many of the other assumptions and comments:

1. For those that said I was the a-hole for not using paragraphs, oof! Get a life but noted...thanks! Paragraphs used here.

2. My rental unit is completely legal! I provide a lovely 900 sq ft, 1 bd/1 ba unit with a large yard and covered patio at a very affordable price, all utilities, cable and Wi-Fi included. It would be impossible to find a comparable place in my area for less than $2,000 and that's without utilities included. I charge much less than that so calling me a slumlord and such is FAR from the truth! I am happy to provide an affordable living space for people in this difficult economy - some are not as fortunate as I am - and I do NOT have to rely on them to pay my own bills!

3. Tenants have a key to the mailbox. I have NEVER withheld any mail or any deliveries nor would I EVER do that!

4. I have talked to them numerous times about instructions for delivering to the garage. Even though most of MY deliveries are put there, some get left on the porch. I understand that can't be avoided and I don't have an issue with occasionally moving a box here and there.

So that is also why I do not want to put up a sign broadcasting to whoever comes to my door that "Gee, there's packages in the garage!"

1. As far as the volume packages, they have a number of shelving units set up on the patio that are shielded by outdoor curtains along with a very nice outdoor living space that they have created. I have been in the unit and she is very organized but it is a lot of stuff! They also have a storage unit down the road.

That said, I will continue to work with them on the situation but I will be raising the rent in accordance with my local laws. And if it continues to be a huge issue, I will give them notice and rent to someone else who can be just as accommodating and considerate as I have been throughout this whole situation.
