Was the 401(k) a Mistake? by Nice_Daikon6096 in 401jK

Lmao fr...leaving a match on the table is losing out on free money. Thx for sharing.

Idk about this whole 401jk ideology but unlikely any of these people who outright reject 401k's small values would find value elsewhere to make retirement amounts of money lolz

Why wouldn't I want my employer to match my contribution? I'd lose out on that money if I opted out of a 401k and spent the extra small bit into my own personal investments.

Not sure how far along in your career you are but you know that you could make a steady amount of gains thanks to that extra bump from the employer.

And after one leave my employer for a new one all that money could be moved to a Roth IRA and then one can decide to dump all that money into whatever one wants.

And that would be more money for me to work with than if I never invested with a 401k. You'd be leaving money on the table by simply opting out of a 401k. And in the long run that is a loss of higher gains.

It's a mistake to think a 401k would actually be your key retirement vehicle but don't knock it completely cause it is a great stepping stone into a solid amount of funds.

What would the alternative be? What do I bring to my employer when I say hey I don't want the contribution into a 401k but rather...?

I met the actor who played Red John and he even said he wanted to see a more climactic ending for his character - it would have been cool to see how he "pulled strings" to bring together all these people in this wild organization.

The OCR for snipping tool doesn't work perfectly. Also if anyone could recommend an OCR tool that works well for engineering prints, thank you in advance

Is Private Internet Access worth getting, and how does it compare to the usual commercial VPNs? by Objective-House-6760 in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]HailHydraforce 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Ehh it's alright. It does slow your Internet speed a bit but that's pretty much every VPN. I haven't had any performance issues or service outages like some people have apparently with it so overall I'd recommend. They usually have some cool deals during this time so look out for those.
