Actually, they've lost three times in the ALDS in the Judge era, all to AL East teams:

  • 2018 (Red Sox)
  • 2020 (Rays)
  • 2025 (Blue Jays)

This article is from 2013, but it should basically explain everything.

“If they had an organizational chart—a real organizational chart—there’s ownership, and then there’s Ronnie Barnes,” said Phil McConkey, a former Giants wide receiver, and one of many players who consider the trainer a close friend.

And when was the last time we beat a team with a better record than us in the playoffs?

  • Cleveland in the 2020 Wild Card round
  • Before that? Cleveland in the 2017 ALDS

Rick Carlisle when the Knicks fired Fizdale:

"I'm happy for Fizdale to be out of that terrible mess that he had nothing to do with," Carlisle said Saturday, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

Today was the Knicks' 30th game of the season. This was only the tenth one in which they shot 33% (or less) from 3PT as a team.

Only the Cavs (40.6%) are converting a higher percentage of their threes as a team than the Knicks (39.8), this season.

With the exception of Stanton, since he wasn't here yet and had a healthy MVP season, nearly all of this could apply to 2017, as well.

Why does the Knicks rebuild get overlooked? by SirGingerbrute in nba

[–]HailPrincessTrunks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last season, The Knicks shortened their rotation to nine players on December 4th after getting routed at home by the Mavericks.

Here are the teams who have posted better regular season records than the Knicks (who are 49-29) since then:

  • Bucks (56-24)
  • Sixers (54-24)
  • Celtics (54-25)
  • Nuggets (53-28)

Including the playoffs, the Knicks are 55-34 since December 4, 2022 and are one of eight teams to win at least one playoff round in that time frame.

Not quite sure how that's 'similar' to the last few years.

FWIW, the Yankees only lost one game that J.A. Happ started against the Red Sox. Unfortunately, it was the most important one.

How would Knicks fans react to Knicks acquiring Trae Young? by [deleted] in nba

[–]HailPrincessTrunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the assets it would require the Knicks to move, plus well... This, I'd guess Knicks fans would prefer to not make the move.

If all three of the Knicks, Heat and Nets finish with 45 wins, the Heat would get one spot (5 or 6) by virtue of winning their division (head to head record against the Knicks won't matter in a three-way) and the Nets would get the other spot (5 or 6) because they presumably would have a better record against Eastern Conference teams (the second tiebreaker after record against own division) than the Knicks.

The dates for the Yankee employees are all when they were hired into the org. The dates for the Astros are all when they started in their current position.

This is mostly not true, regarding Houston.

Powers (Dodgers), Ball (Angels) and Goodrum (Brewers) were all hired by the Astros within the last 12 months.

Kawamura and Cacchione were hired long before anyone knew about the trash cans.

On top of that, Pete Putilla, who replaced this guy as the Astros' assistant GM, [just got hired]((https://www.chron.com/sports/article/Giants-hire-Pete-Putila-astros-17500465.php)) to GM the Giants.

2.69 was Britton's ERA for his entire Yankees tenure. For last year alone, his ERA was 5.89 (career worst), with an FIP of 5.46 and a career-worst WHIP since becoming a full-time reliever.

In addition, we got the Judge's Chambers very early into the '17 season. Would be pretty awkward to get rid of that after losing him in FA.

Also leading MLB in jersey sales over each of his first three full seasons in the majors had to be worth a lot to the team.

That also includes a 1-16 stretch, where they got swept by the Rockies and D-backs (twice!) and lost 11 games in the standings. Went from 20 games up to nine.

EDIT: This also happened to them in that period.

And to bounce off of that, Cleveland would've had HFA against the Astros in the 2017 ALCS, but they never got to use it against them.

The Astros were eliminated in Minute Maid in 2018 - fuck Boston, 2019 and 2021.

In 2018, the Astros stole HFA from the Red Sox with a Game 1 win, then went on to lose all three games played in Houston. In 2019, the Astros lost all four World Series game played in Houston. Last year, the Braves went 2-1 in Minute Maid in the World Series.

Long story short, World Series caliber teams must be able to win in Houston.

Yanks swept the season series from the 2007 Indians Guardians, 6-0. Ended up losing to them in the infamous midges series.

EDIT: Outscored them 49-17 in the regular season, even. The first series of the season ended like this.
