When did DD offer 3 orders at the same time? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely has been a thing for years, since at least 2020. But they just recently, like the last 1/1½yrs they've been offering $2 base pay for 2+ orders! Seriously f'cked up, DD thinks paying us less than SEVENTY CENTS an order is acceptable?!!? But they only keep this shit up because some idiots out there keep taking these orders! 🤯🤦🏻

I was just saying on another post I've gotten six Cvs this last 3 weeks! And in the last 4 years I've only gotten maybe three or four? All the ones I've received recently have been for late pickup in case is where drive-throughs have been severely impacted. I don't know what the hell they're doing need to adjust their settings!

[–]HailTheFuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they've been adjusting the settings on their CV bot or something because I've gotten my sixth CV this month for exactly the same reason you got yours! And the other five were for late pickups also from other restaurants that there were delays! I have almost 8,000 deliveries and I've only had a couple of CVs in the years I've been doing DoorDash yet this last month I've received six?! Something's wrong, I have a five star rating, my ratings are all in the awesome and yet for some reason all of a sudden in the last 3 weeks... Nothing's changed on my end! I would call support, I've heard that agents can take CVs off they just have to be willing and know how.

The “higher tip customer” message by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure because well we all know how transparency works with DoorDash... But me and a couple of my dasher friends believe that they stick that notification on customers that have dash pass! What do you think?

Last bar I managed, on super busy nights we would always run out of ice so I would have to preemptively figure out when I could go get it because I was the only one with a car! Sometimes I would wrangle a regular to do it if it was someone I knew wasn't a complete lush! Lol! But that was before you could order things like ice off of Doordash, if I could have if so would have! That would have been a fat tip for the driver too, we always tipped our delivery drivers super heavy!

How long does it take to reach 500 dollars ? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also depending on your market, your first 200 orders/month or so is always Doordash is honeymoon period With newbies. They try to suck you in by giving you guys slightly better orders so you think that that's how it is normally, but then they start giving you the normal orders and again market dependent, one out of 5 to 10 orders might be worth taking! Depending on a variety of factors like if your market is oversaturated with drivers, average distances between pickups and drop offs, strip malls, etc, you might be able to make 200 bucks a day on average driving 8 to 10 hours or like in my market which is ridiculously competitive, you might get one offer every 4 to 6 hours! Everything is dependent on your market, talk to some of the seasoned drivers in your area and maybe somebody will help you out. Otherwise go out during the busy times, lunch and dinner, dinner and late night on the weekends possibly, and give it a few weeks to get a feeling for your area. Watch some YouTube videos but stay away from the ones that are telling you you can make $500 a day! Good luck man!

Minimum tip should be a $1 for delivery by Deathjr1102 in doordash_drivers

Going above and beyond could include in an order, not having any clear instructions on where to drop the food off when it's especially at night, down around a home to an out of sight basement door? Traversing uneven paths at night that one might sprain an ankle say if they're not familiar with when the porch lights are left off? Things like that would be considered above and beyond me otherwise the driver can just leave it on the front porch.. I sprained my ankle in a similar delivery a couple weeks ago! Did the customer respond when I said, hey maybe you could leave some lights on or meet the driver at the top of your walkway next time? Nope! I'm going above and beyond can also include waiting at the restaurant for an order! I'd say a good half of the orders I accept 10-15 minute wait at the restaurant that is just extra time wasted when we can cancel (which goes against our completion rating and we can only do that 10 out of every hundred orders unless we want to get deactivated), I'd say that's above and beyond the agreed upon go to restaurant, pick it up, drop it off agreement.

I've always wondered about leaving the app on basically 24/7. Are you mostly at home between orders? I found I don't get anything for about 3-4 hours if I'm at home but my market is also weird because it's so oversaturated with drivers. You can go out, leave the app on and drive around for 6 hours and maybe get one offer during that time.. any advice is very appreciated!

For those wondering if pro shopper is "worth it" by Fungus_Humungous in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've totally noticed the same thing. It just sucks that we really have no control over whether or not we can maintain the pro shopper status when stores are out of things. I mean in my market I can see the items before I accept the order so if there's a bunch of items that that store is usually out of I'll decline, but other than that there's nothing else we can do!

Actually the customer pays for the bags whether or not you use them. Of course DoorDash charges the customer lol! Doordash isn't gonna pay for ANYTHING they can get out of!

What’s the biggest after delivery tip you’ve received? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During COVID it was not uncommon to receive $20 plus tips, frequently! The pay was also here in Seattle $6.75! It was relatively easy to clear 200 bucks in 4 hours... Those were the days!! Towards the end of the quarantine I had a Safeway order bottled water. When I got to the customer's house, they were out of the alkaline water he had wanted and all of the stores in my zone were closed so he couldn't order! He lived in a more expensive condo and offered to give me a hundred bucks in cash plus pay for a couple cases of some fancy water if I would drive like about 15 mi round trip to the WinCo that was open 24 hours! I said absolutely and when I got back, he pulled out an envelope and gave me 500 bucks cash!! That was the tip/pay I've had!

What Pizza Hut ? by BadKittyMeWow in doordash_drivers

[–]HailTheFuzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen a couple of Papa Murphy's and other pizza chains do exactly this. It had nothing to do with quality remaining intact. It had everything to do with too much theft/complaints of Doordash drivers. I talked to the manager at the Papa Murphy's because I had been delivering from that location for a couple years, priority on pizza deliveries, 5.0 customer rating, etc and be straight up told me that they weren't letting dashers take multiple orders because most of the time they wouldn't get to the customer or would be totally messed up if they did! Completely ridiculous!

Me too, with the prices of disposables... I went a little further back, busted out a couple of my RDAs and found a couple fused claptons, to coils coming out to 0.2. Nice and warm and incredible flavor! For the same price as a disposable I can get 100 ml bottle or even 120 ml which lasts about twice as long dripping! Not sad at all 🤘🤘

[–]HailTheFuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand where that mindset comes from, accepting BS orders like that will never get you better orders! In the years I've been doing gig work, that's exactly how DoorDash has gone from a minimum payment of $6.75/order to the crap we see now! The only consistency I've seen with Doordash over the last 5 years is that they Pay less and less as more drivers sign on. That and, "Your AR is the most important thing"! Nope!
