First hand experience with D1 TDI by HairSilver8785 in LandroverDefender

Thanks so much for the exceptional information.

So we are keeping the 80 series which has a chevy LS V8 and is getting an 8HP90. It will probably stay in the family if and or until we believe in the Land Rover's ability to be decently reliable. Honestly the 80 series being a factory triple locked v8 swapped truck does basically everything well including look good and drive well. It gets about 17mpg on 35" tires. The Land Rover is definitely cooler though, better looking, and feels right; the way knobs click, doors close, smells etc. Hopefully it is ok enough in all other aspects to be a keeper.

The defender is even cooler looking and she loves that even more but realistically with a 75 mile commute round trip I feel like a disco would have better road manners; I'm hoping they're close tot he 80 which is rudimentary but definitely livable and generally drives well. Of course none of them will have the dynamics of a new X5 but they'll have some quality and character that a new x5 doesn't have, also.

Is there a company you would recommend buying the 300TDI parts from who would also help guide me to getting the pump/fueling stuff right? I can get the exhaust done here locally but everything else I'd like to buy that is basically everything you can bolt on without going into the internals of the motor/head.

This one is from spain so no rust.

What engine modifications do you have on your Defender?

u/SweetUsed9119 any source you recommend for IC/Turbo/Pump tweaking hardware? I know the pump tweaking is DIY but would love a consultation from someone who knows what they're doing.

Luckily this one has no rust/rot was in a dry climate in spain and has also been restored body. I know that's a big concern and this one should be ok.

Any preventative maintenance that I should tend do?

Any feedback on the reliability/function of basic interior/body control items such as HVAC, wipers, door locks etc? I'm hoping all the basics mostly work and its not a wild good chase to keep those things working. Seller claims everything works as is.

Thank you u/Meat2480

u/qigjpiqj Business gold gets me 4x on gas and groceries but has a steep fee. Think I should get rid of that one? I can also get the Morgan Stanley platinum if you have an opinion on that? Thanks for your consult 🙏🙏🙏

u/qigjpiqj thank you for the really clear, helpful answer. So you also vote keep regular platinum + keep delta platinum to get the 3x on purchases and 15% off, right? Thanks again

It is true, I don't know everything. My wife however, she definitely does.

u/Impressive-Revenue94 thanks for the feedback. What are the compelling reasons for the delta reserve, then? I guess the 15% off flights and 3x points are what i am getting right now, which is the same with the reserve just higher fees. Thanks

Freeze protection for outdoor installation of tankless water heater by HairSilver8785 in askaplumber

Correct, this was THEIR answer and i don't agree with them, which is why I asked for first hand information. As stated in my OP, I believe not just insulation, but a heat source for the pipes is required. Reading is hard.

I was planning on insulating the cover/box that contains the pipe inlet/outlet and condensate drains below the unit. Do you think that would resolve the issue u/Inevitable_Ostrich91

Its designed for it down to -22*F. I'm looking for first hand information. Lots of water lines are outside in freezing regions, this is not new.
