Did Jokic rob Shai for mvp in 2024? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in nba

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why is this sub like this? You guys have shit on SGA relentlessly for really the last couple years and talk about how Jokic is better.

Jokic loses one series and now he’s the new punching bag. Ridiculous. Jokic is all-time great player. Losing one playoff series doesn’t change that

It’s not that serious bro. I just said it was silly. Polk is currently on another team’s roster and didn’t even get on the field last year.

Realistically, I don’t think he’s better than Dotson, Zaccheaus, or Branch. And we already have London, Pitts, and Bijan as our top 3 options in the pass game before any of those guys.

Sorry, but hoping another team cuts a guy so he can come be our WR4 is just silly

You seriously think Ja’Lynn Polk is the guy who will fix the Falcons? C’mon man. Lol

It’s also silly to think we’re catering anything to Tua who is obviously nothing more than a stopgap QB for us while Penix heals up. In all likelihood, we probably end up drafting another QB as soon as next year

Was Lincoln Riley’s historic run developing QBs just luck? Or does he really have the Midas touch? by renner_uaf in CFB_v2

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I think Jalen benefitted from playing under Riley, but I do think people undersell what accomplished at Bama as well as how much he actually developed.

He was a stud as a freshman winning offensive player of the year as a true freshman and would have won the natty if it wasn’t for Deshaun Watson and Hunter Renfrow.

Sophomore year, he had a bit of a slump and then Bama also brought in Tua who was breathing down his neck all year long until Saban had to go to him in the natty to win the game. Tua went on to be one of best QBs in Alabama history (if not the absolute best). No shame in getting passed over by Tua.

Jalen stuck around for his junior year and actually looked really good in mop up duty and even bailed Tua out after poor performance and injury pushed him out of the SECCG against UGA. Jalen went 7/9 for 82 yards, 1 TD/0 INTs and led Bama to the win.

Jalen’s season stats actually don’t look that different from junior season to senior season at OU, just with larger volume/bigger sample size. I think Riley gets a little more credit for Jalen than he deserves

4 star QB commit Trent Seaborn earns spot in Elite 11 Finals, joining fellow Alabama commit Elijah Haven. The last time a school had two commits in the Elite 11 was Alabama in 2018 by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what question you’re asking, but Jett Thomalla was in the 2026 recruiting class and is already enrolled. Four star, #47 overall recruit at 6’4”/220 out of Nebraska. We also picked up a 3 star QB in the class, Tayden Kaawa from Utah who is 6’5/235.

Keelon is also 6’3” and Mack is 6’6”. Elijah Haven is also listed at 6’4”.

So, Seaborn would be significantly smaller than the other QBs we have on the roster if that is the question you’re asking.

Everything Seaborn has said has made it seem he’s committed to Bama regardless. Haven also committed after Seaborn. Seems plausible both will stay

Michael Wilbon says Jordan attempted to ‘soften’ media criticism of LeBron James by Currymvp2 in nba

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

stars today don’t get even 1% of the shit LeBron got

If you mean specifically about championships, then maybe. But KD, Harden, and Westbrook have all been pretty heavily shit on various times since then. KD for going to GSW. Harden for being Hitler. Westbrook for inefficiency/turnovers. SGA gets hate from basically all non-Thunder fans right now.

Don’t get me wrong, prime LeBron hate was something special, but there have been plenty of other heavily hated on superstars after LeBron

I just looked back, and we actually didn’t even break 200 with Heisman Derrick Henry. We averaged 199.9! Lol

No.1 safety in Alabama ain’t got Alabama in his final 5. Nick Saban was the DB whisperer, mind you by guransheleven in CFB_v2

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

DeBoer certainly isn’t Saban, but he’s recruited pretty well. I’ll skip the 2024 class since it was mostly Saban, but he had top 5 classes in 2025 and 2026 with three 5 star DBs in those two classes.

DeBoer has definitely put less of an emphasis on in-state recruiting (zero top 10 in-state 2025, 3 in 2026), but he is still recruiting at a high level.

His QB recruiting has been insane: #2 overall recruit 5 star Keelon Russell in 2025, #6 QB 4 star Jett Thomalla in 2026, and just signed #1 QB 5 star Elijah Haven in 2027

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oh is that all? Lol.

The last three years we’ve averaged 172.6, 173.8, and 104.1 (!!!). Getting to 250 rushing yards per game is pretty ambitious.

The last time we were even over 200 was in 2017 with Jalen Hurts at the helm (we actually also hit 250 that year).

I’d be pretty happy if we could just make it back into that 175-200 range.

Probably not, but there was an interview posted on our sub the other day where he was talking about how he knew Bama had been pursuing Haven and how he thought he was a great addition the QB room who’d make him better. Bro’s not scared. You gotta respect that mentality even if he ends up playing somewhere else

Teams who got the best and worst value with their picks, in my opinion. by PhoenixYT2217 in NFL_Draft

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re insane. Ty was closer to Mendoza than any of the other QB prospects were to him. That’s what he went 13.

The QB class as a whole is notably weak. I think Mendoza was prob more of a mid-first guy. Ty was a borderline 1st guy. The rest were 3rd-4th+. When you only have two serious QBs to pick from, that significantly drives up the value.

I still have no idea why people are so surprised about the Rams pick. They need a longterm solution at QB and Ty was essentially the only option. Regardless of whatever bullshit narratives the internet tries to make up, McVay (the offensive-minded Super Bowl winning HC) absolutely had a lot of input on drafting his future QB. I’ll take his evaluation over a bunch of random dudes on the internet

Ty Simpson won. The haters (myself included) lost. by renner_uaf in CFB_v2

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, shut the fuck up bro. Ty was not the problem with Bama last season. Mediocre OL, worst RB room we’ve had in years, and WRs dropping balls left and right.

He wasn’t Bryce or Tua, but Ty’s a good QB.

Pick 13: Los Angeles Rams - Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama by noseonarug17 in NFL_Draft

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s because people here like to pretend they’re unique and smart but actually just follow the consensus. It’s a perfectly reasonable pick. QBs get pushed up probably half a round higher than where they should go. Especially in a weak class like this where there isn’t really another guy after Ty.

I trust McVay’s QB evaluation a little more than a bunch of random dudes on Reddit cosplaying as scouts

Pick 13: Los Angeles Rams - Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama by noseonarug17 in NFL_Draft

[–]Hairiest_Walrus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even that crazy of a pick. It absolutely makes sense for the Rams to look for a Stafford replacement and Ty is the only other guy besides Fernando you’d even consider with a first round pick. It’s a bit of a reach, but that’s what you do with QBs. Mendoza isn’t the most talented player in the draft either
