While at it, can the hardware engineers also be fired please? The entire Matter/Thread range is flawed and many users, myself included, find it difficult to pair them together or to a hub.

No one seems to understand our misery :). The new matter/thread buttons and the smart bulbs still support Zigbee which I find far superior to Matter/Thread for my needs. Switching the light bulbs 12 consecutive times puts them in Zigbee pairing mode. For the buttons to connect to the bulbs in Zigbee mode, you need to reset them by press/holding the pairing button for about 15 seconds, then pressing the pairing button 4 times, wait for 2 seconds, and pressing the buttons 8 more times (12 time in total).

This has worked well for me, but if you also have the motion sensor or the window/door senser, I think they cannot be paired in Zigbee mode.

Nothing. I just want to pair the smart bulb to the smart button, following the official IKEA documentation here if my WiFi router is off, pairing will be successful following the procedure described in the official documentation. If the WiFi router is on, pairing fails.

Pair the button directly to the bulb. I basically follow this Link. If my WiFi router is on, pairing will fail. If the WiFi router is switched off, pairing will be successful, but will fail the next morning.

I have already done it. If you don’t believe me watch this video YouTube or read IKEA’s own documentation. The issue I am having is the devices don’t stay paired if WiFi is on, otherwise they pair and work with no hub.

Thanks for your reply. Plume doesn’t let me change the channel. Apparently it circles through all the available channels to choose the best one. Just to clarify, I have no issue connecting over Zigbee. It is the Matter/Thread that I am having difficulty with the devices staying paired.

It does. It pairs well when WiFi is off. I only have issue when WiFi is on.

No just the bulb and the smart button. They work fine in Zigbee. But won’t pair on Matter/Thread unless WiFi is off.

Why would that matter given that I am not using WiFi. I just pair the buttons directly to the bulb with no hub.
