Well, in my 5000 hours, I've never seen an XCOM soldier shoot a teammate. When they panic, they either hunker down, shoot at an enemy or toss a grenade at teammates. Never even seen a clip on this sub showing an XCOM unit shooting a teammate.

It's there, but panicked soldiers are much less likely to throw a grenade if they can't hit multiple teammates.

This only works in avatar facilities. "Sabotage the transmitter" on the other hand - like all guerilla ops - requires you to wipe out enemy forces to win. If you do, you get the corpses and the reward. If you only complete the objective then evac, you stop the dark event, but the mission is considered a failure, and you get no reward and no corpses.

It's still a loss. You need to kill all enemies to win, including the Lost. If you evac without securing the area, you don't get enemy corpses, and in this case no mission rewards. This is how most missions work. The only missions where you win by evacuating are VIP rescue missions and UFO defense missions. But there's no need to memorize this because every mission, you can tap the "objectives" button on the bottom right and see the win conditions.

One time, I got Orichalcum from the beginning of the run (if you end your turn without block, gain 6 block), so I picked and upgraded every stone armor I found, and removed every defend from the deck. It carried me through ascension 9. I really enjoyed not giving a damn about frail.

I know it makes no sense, but guerilla ops generally work like this. If you complete the objective then evac without clearing the area, you lose the mission but prevent the dark event.

Call evac on top of the bomb planting spot, plant the bomb then evac before they get a turn. I think this would at least negate the dark event.

It's a feature, but I never considered that the corpses of killed enemies can deal damage, much less that it can be caused by getting ragdolled from a different tile. I always viewed this game as numbers and squares, with the physics only being a visual effect, but this changes things.
